BRB bride in peeved off panic mode

Haven't people learned? Don't piss off the bride. I am usually a very go with the flow person. I have even been a very go with the flow person about this whole wedding planning. Now I go for a final quote and try to nail things down with the WC at Breezes Runaway Bay and I can not get ahold of her by phone, her email communication never answers my questions and she is trying to quote us like $60 a person for a private 90 minute cocktail reception with just some platters of veggies, crackers, fruit, etc and a bar for 30 people. When we talked about this earlier it was $15 pp. Now its $60? Apparently the first quote was just the food, no bar... really? A $45 pp bar at an all inclusive resort?

 

I have also asked for confirmation of a few times so I can put a schedule in my welcome letter and can't seem to get that either. I accepted that the lack of detail in communication several months ago was because I am one of so many brides and I was still months away. Now I am less than 3 weeks... think we could get this worked out?

 

Two dinner confirmations, a tee time, a really basic cocktail reception, and a time quote for the tour on Sunday. Not alot to ask is it?

 

I guess it is time to go over her head... but this woman has control of my wedding... I don't want to piss her off, but she has already really upset me.

Ah I am SO sorry this is happening! I too have found out that it seems stories change the closer you get to the wedding. I emailed her this past week and she was pretty quick with a response. Our wedding is just under 5 months away but I neglected to tell her that in the email figuring she wouldn't look it up and might assume its important that she get back to me quickly.

 

Anyway, I really have no advice other than to say that i'm really sorry about this. That price is just ridiculous for a cocktail hour - hopefully she just misquoted! Good luck getting in touch with her!

Maureen, thanks for the help. I have the same menus. Did you know that the menu for a cocktail party does not include the bar? Lovely! Is it tacky to send my guest over to the main bar to get something to drink and then come back. I am really flustered. I am going to try to call her again tomorrow morning.

 

KJT1985, she responds to my emails within a few days usually, and I always put our names and wedding date in the subject line, but you will begin to notice that she only actually answers part of your questions and the beginning and end of the email are stock wording.

I get so worried reading so many stories about WC going AWOL so close to the date. So far mine has gotten back to me the next day, but I wonder if that will change as the high season begins?

Unfortunately, while this resort is everything I had wanted and imagined in its simplicity and size, the WC is notoriously flaky until you are on site. Then apparently she is very attentive. I am just not willing to wait until two days before to solidify major details... other ones can wait and I am fine... Money can not.

Oh do I understand your frustration...just ask Maureen lol. We kept calling and emailing her...well she finally called me so I could get some answers about doing a private reception. Let me know what you find out about the cocktail hour! I think it is ridiculous that $30/hr would not include an open bar. I love this resort too with everything else it includes but we need answers PRIOR to our wedding. I know its frustrating, especially when other resorts you can find out about everything ahead of time. Let me know if I can help you out at all! Us BRB brides need to stick together lol

i would first of all explain nicely how she has upset you and that you are frustrated and does she understand you are only 3 weeks away and you need to confirm everything then ask if you are asking questions that she can,t answer do you need to speak to someone else?

I can totally relate to your frustrations-I am in the same situation with the WC at the Palladium. Wedding is in less than 3 weeks and she is having email issues so I haven't received anything in writing from her in weeks. We had a different WC up until a few months ago and the new WC doesn't have any of the details that were confirmed with the old WC (tried to tell me I had to pay extra for bigger cake when old WC said that was included, etc, etc.).

I tried to call today and can't get through to the resort. now i am travelling to Texas for work for the rest of this week and by the time I get back it will be less than a week until we leave....

So we will see if it works out, but I managed to get ahold of Keisha via phone today. We clarified a bunch of stuff including that the total for the cocktail party quote was for a different menu and included the bar at $40. WHo knows. Anyway... I gave her the info for just platters and a bar and she confirmed that she would get a quote from food and bev by Wednesday. She also confirmed a few other details for me. I think she knows that we are serious and will not be put off. Maureen, you were right... phone is the best with her and morning is the best time. Thanks. We'll see what price comes back.
