I just flew United from LAX to Cancun -- there were no closets on board. We just placed my dress on top of bags in the overhead storage bins. No problem, my garment bag carrying three dresses was fine wink.gif No wrinkles or problems!

Our United flight was great and the crew was fabulous ~ they even said made an public announcement that we were on board to get married in Mexico and congratulated us, everyone on board cheered ~ it was a sweet moment to start off our journey!

Thanks Marie! That certainly put my mind at ease. Gina Lyn, thanks, but I have already searched and couldn't find anything specific to United. All airlines are different and I was looking for a recent experience on United so I could be prepared. That's why I was so specific with the title on my post.

be prepared to put your purse in your roller carry-on, you are allowed one carry on and one personal item. The purse and laptop are considered personal items. They will forgive the dress as extra but don't push it with the other stuff. We put my dress and his suit in a garment bag

I am getting married in August, so I don't have any personal experience - but my planner who does several weddings in Ireland told me this is the only way to go. She was very explicit - under no circumstances do not check the dress or ship it. All of her past brides have been able to carry it on and get it checked in first class, except once. I'm guessing that flights to Europe might be a little stricter than to Mexico, so I'd follow her advice going to Mexico, too. Hope this helps.
