Ugh, it just frustrates me that people feel the need to complain, either you want/can afford to go, or you don't/cant. I never complained about anyone else's wedding that we shelled out a lot of money for or about the dates of the trip, so why do they feel the need to do this to me? .
Grrr. As someone who is having a Mackinac wedding, I really appreciate everyone who wants to come and hope I don't have to deal with crabby people. Sorry people are being stupid. Geoff is going to sit down with his 25 year old brother who refuses to get a full time job and tell him that he and his girlfriend are more than welcome but that the wedding will be pricey and they are NOT allowed to sponge off his parents as it's just plain tacky.

It's really a shame that people don't stop and think before they speak. I think if someone complained to me, I would simply say "Too bad you can't make it. I think it's going to be a lot of fun". Don't let them ruin your day. It will be a wonderful wedding regardless.

I feel your pain...I posted a thread about just about the very same thing a few days ago. I don't remember giving my friend ANY greif when she planned a destination wedding. Bottom line...if she was happy...then I was happy. As long as I could be there...I was going to be there. Period.

BTW...IMHO...$580 all inclusive for 5 days including air is a BARGAIN!! I think if people would consider that they are getting a great vacation at a great price, they might think better of their comments.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with complaining guests...

My favorite so far has been "Fiji - but it is so politically unstable overthere - they had a coup in 2000 you know"

Political instability... 10 years ago! What a great reason not to go to the other side of the country for a holiday - which wasn't even effected when they were having the coup!!

people will find any excuse :)

LOL well good luck and the best advice I can give you is that laugh about it all....

You said it! That's what my mom told me at the beginning of this whole process. She said do what you two want. People will either get over their issues or stay home. If its the latter, their loss!
