Help! Question about fabric...

Hi ladies,

 

so I just bought this dress : white/Wedding/Dress/Bridal/Gown/Custom/SZ:4.8.10.12.16. on eBay.ca (item 280389776874 end time 25-Sep-09 11:42:37 EDT)

 

on Ebay, and tonight I have to email her about my measurements and the type of fabric I want it made of - as its a custom dress, they typically make them from bridal satin unless you request something else. I'm thinking for a beach wedding that chiffon might be better than satin, plus doesn't satin watermark easily?? They also use taffeta and organza, I'm just not sure which fabric they should use... To me, it looks more like chiffon in the photo than satin - but I'm definately no expert!!

 

Please advise!!!! I only have until tonight to choose a fabric!! Should I just go with satin?? Or should I get it done in chiffon Or some combination of the two? (satin top, chiffon skirt)

I actually looked up different bridal fabrics online yesterday in trying to decide whether I could use the dress I want for my ceremony for my TTD without totally ruining it. What I found is that a large number of satins and silks are actually blends. Often of polyester and other man made materials, which make them washable fabrics and ok to get wet. I would ask if the satin they use is stiff or more flowing, and perhaps do a satin bottom with a chiffon overlay.

My dress is tafetta. Mostly because I like the 'raw silk' type feel to it and look. It's not a pure white, it's called diamond white...but I love it.

 

And on the plus side...tafetta is VERY light weight. I didn't even feel like I was in a wedding dress.
