I am working with Best Bridal at the Ocean Crystal Chapel, but we hired our own Photographer and Cinematographer.  I would not take a package under any circumstances where I couldn't:  A.  Know the name of the vendor they want to contract to photograph the wedding and B. Choose whichever vendor I wanted from a list they had!

We are using Rachel Robertson and her pictures are just stunning!  She really has a knack for capturing the emotion of a wedding, not just creative pictures (which she does equally well).  We met her last summer and immediately she felt like an old friend.  I know my daughter (who's uncomfortable being the center of attention) and her rather shy fiance will feel very comfortable with her.  Your pictures are the only thing that provides lasting memories and let's you see things you actually missed at your own wedding!  Don't trust it to someone you don't know or haven't seen work from. What a stupid policy they have!

Good luck!  By the way, Rachel's site is:  www.rachelrobertson.com  in case you're interested.

Has anyone gotten married at one of the Ko'olina chapels operated by a Japanese company? Ko'olina chapel, Aquaveil Frais, or Honu Kai Lani? I'm interested but am not sure how the company is. It seems to be a large Japanese company that caters to Japanese couples looking for a quick all-inclusive package...

Hi everyone,

I am getting married at Paradise Cove Ocean Gardens in August 2013. There wasn't much info on BDW so I'm hoping to help some brides who may be interested in this venue. I am having a private ceremony and reception overlooking the beach. The coordinator, Camille, who handles the Ocean Gardens has been very helpful. Lanikuhonua is the more popular venue but VERY expensive. If you go through Paradise Cove's preferred caterers, you can get a discounted price for venue fee. It is VERY reasonable compared to Lanikuhonua, Loulu Palms, Bayer's Estate or Kualoa Ranch. Believe me, I've researched almost every venue and this is the best deal you could get for a beachside ceremony and reception. The ceremony won't be held directly on the beach but on the grass overlooking the ocean. Just FYI, for every public beach, you need a permit and cannot have a chuppah or chairs on the beach. For anyone who tells you different, they are taking a huge risk. And if you get caught, guess who pays for the ticket? Not them... you. Beware of companies that try to sell you on this. Anyhow, it's a long way from now but once the wedding is over, I'll be posting a review on all my vendors. If anyone is interested in information, PM me and I will help answer any questions you may have!

I would like to add that they do have a private beach where you can have your ceremony but if you decide to have the reception at the Ocean Gardens, I believe it is an additional cost. Since it is a private beach, you would be able to have a bamboo arch and chairs. One of the previous brides who got married there sent me pics so if anyone is interested, I can ask her if she can send them to you as well.

Hi Cherbear,

I hope your wedding was everything you wished.  I am planning a wedding for next year and would like it to be in the Ko Olina area but the prices are so expensive for the chapels.  I would very much appreciate any insight and recommendations you have for location and vendors.  This will be very small, 25 maximum.

Thank you.

I want to get married at either ocean crystal chapel or paradise cove chapel August 2014. Both have to be coordinated by best bridal hawaii. Any recommendations with vendors? I've only seen a few pictures from the website and couldn't tell how close to the beach the chapel is located. Did anyone plan their wedding on their own or go through planners? Vendor suggestions? I have colors, flowers and my invitations (DIY project) picked out. It seems like I've hit a stand still with the venue. It seems really high for almost nothing. Any other suggestions on venue? I originally looked at Maui, but didn't see a location similar to these two that was within a reasonable price range. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Page,

I'm not sure what the minimum amount of guests is for Paradise Cove. That is where I had my wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL. I had 33 guests total and had the ceremony and reception at their private Ocean Gardens area. The area is huge but there is this little garden area near the beach which has a spectacular view. My guests were amazed at the location. It is very intimate. The prices are also very reasonable compared to the more popular Lanikuhonua and Loulu Palms. I would suggest contacting Camille at Paradise Cove. I do not know about the chapels because I didn't get married in one. I know the chapels can be very expensive. I wanted an outdoor wedding so this was not a problem for me. I'll be posting pictures and doing reviews soon once I get my professional photos. I can send you some personal pictures of the view if you want to PM me your email address.
