AHR photos

Recommended Posts

I know there have been a couple people who are doing AHR's----- MexicoMelissa and Edyta, that I recall offhand. I think some people are also doing very casual AHR's and I'd still be interested in seeing any photos of those too---- it gets the ideas flowing for the rest of us! :)

I saved these images of a Fiesta style AHR. Very casual but I thought it was really cute. I thin I got these pics from another forum bride! I don't plan on a formal AHR, but thought that a wedding video viewing in the backyard would be fun. Maybe just taco and margaritas! Host Tammy also had an AHR some of her pics are posted in the gallery.

Yeah, I'm glad that we did the AHR, but it was SO much work...we did absolutely everything ourselves, the food, bar, decorations, cakes, everything! I almost wish that we would have gone with a venue that set up everything for us, but this was more cost effective...

We had about 150 people at our AHR and of those, only 30 were in PV with us, so it was worth it, we showed our video (that my incredibly creative DH edited) and everyone loved it! It was fun, but like I said, a TON of work!!!

I'm kind of a control freak though, I wanted to be in charge of everything, so it probably didn't have to be that much work, but I made it so!

We decided to do bright tropical colors to liven up the drab hall/gym we rented, it turned out really well!!!

If I were to do it all over again, I probably would have made our AHR much more casual and laid back - more like a big BBQ instead of a formal-type reception, less stressful!!!!

After planning all of this and doing all the work though, I must say I'M SO GLAD WE GOT MARRIED IN MEXICO!!! I don't think I would have been able to handle the stress of planning the ceremony and details on top of all the reception stuff!!!

Lindsay - your AHR rocked! That was nicer than some people's regular wedding receptions. Great job!

Amy - That is the coolest 21st birthday party I've ever seen!

We are having sort of a small AHR - technically it will be our 3rd wedding. 1st was at the courthouse, 2nd was Mexico, 3rd will be the church blessing ceremony followed by a reception at my parents house in nor-cal. There won't be a 4th...lol

The date is not yet set but it will be in the next few months. At first we were just going to have the blessing and go out to dinner, but we know our families better than that. Everyone will want to cook so they may as well bring food over to the house and we'll spring for some decorations. We want to have a Mexican themed backyard party (similar to Amy's b-day). When that comes around I'll take and post some pics for you guys :o)
