That's what I'm assuming---- I just googled a calligraphy shop and there were some samples where they did the entire wording for the invitation. I would definitely think that would run a minimum of 2.25 just because I know from experience that hand-calligraphy would take at least 15 minutes per envelope. I just planned on doing my own envelopes because even thinking of doing 50 of the invitation wording is enough to make my hand go into convulsions from arthritis! I never really mimicked different fonts---- I got into it because in junior high art class, our teacher was making us do calligraphy and I hated the way the normal calligraphy looked---- so I started just using variations on my own handwriting and the teacher freaked out about good it looked.... started putting it into exhibitions, display cases, etc.... Martha
I think it includes full outer address and just names on inner. Not too sure. That's what I would need/want done.

Other people just look at different styles and go with what they like (Gothic, basic, etc...). Hmmm.... maybe I should start looking into doing this! Might make some good side-income, even if I charged half the price they gave you!
VIP Member TATrisha Posted June 25, 2007 VIP Member Share Posted June 25, 2007 If you are good at calligraphy, and you are willing to do it... you should definitely get into the business!

CourtneyV
It is expensive. They have some nice fonts out there to download that are "Calligraphy Style" if you're thinking of going that route. It's cheaper and sometimes free, depending on where you download your font from.
Sarah
I did my own! I always wanted to learn calligraphy, so this was a great opportunity. I took a class at Michael's for $20 and it gave me enough of a base that i think my invites looked good. I did the address on the envelopes, return address, and response cards/envelopes. It took some practice, but looked really nice in the end. I think if you have pretty good handwriting to start with, and an eye for detail you can do your own... cheese_diva
I just read something about this and thought it was great.. Do your own Calligraphy: Find a great font on dafont.com and download. Print on your computer your guest names and addresses.. using a light box or if you have a glass coffee table clamp a bright light underneath, place your printed paper inside the envelope.. use a calligraphy pen and TRACE!! I have a girlfriend who offered to do ours, but I thought this idea was great and super crafty.
starchild
I did ours too. I took calligraphy classes years ago and it finally came in handy. I agree some professionals are too pricey. My envelopes came printed with return address on outer envelope and response card so all I had to do was address them to guests. If you have time go purchase some calligraphy pens and practice at home. You'd be surprised....those pens can work wonders! Even your normal print or cursive, when written with a calligraphy pen, can look very elegant. Nobody will analyze it and go "what font is that?". Or if they do they're weird...lol. deleted
I just invited my friend with the best handwriting over, ordred takeout for us both, and we did them all ourselves. They didn't look like traditional calligraphy, but they were cute anyway so I was happy.
