Calligraphy?

Is anyone attempting to do their own calligraphy on invitations? I wanted to pay someone to do it, but it is kinda expensive around here....

I'm doing my own. I've been doing calligraphy since I was 14.

 

Martha, how much do they charge for that? I never even looked into it because I knew I'd do my own...

It's really expensive around here too! Calligraphy would cost more than I want to spend on the invites themselves!!!

I was quoted $1 an invite up to $2.25 an invite. We are ordering 200 invitations...I just don't think it's worth the extra cost. If it comes down to it, we will try the $1 and see how good she is.

 

Maybe you could make some extra money doing this! You could probably charge more in Dallas! lol

Do you have a particular font you'd want to use?

I didn't even know there were different fonts. I thought it was a font all on its own...Sooooo.....I guess that would be a "no." ha!

What all do they do? Just the "Mr & Mrs. Smith and family"? Or do they address the mailing envelope also? Or is it the actual invitation wording that is calligraphied?

 

I've always been curious when I see people posting about hiring a calligrapher for their stationary...

I haven't looked into prices, but there is no way i am talented enough to do my own! My invites are going to be printed, so I would need someone to caligraphy (is that a verb?) the envelopes with name and address. Is the $1-2.25 for the name and address?

I think it looks really nice but I just couldnt spend that much on them. Since most people throw out the invites anyways. Im just doing it on the computer.

The places I've looked at were $1-$2.25 for just the outer envelope. Around $.50 for the inner.
