For those who have done TTD-just how trashed did it get?

I have a question for all you ladies who have trashed your dress-I'm wondering just how trashed does it get?

 

I'm hoping to do a TTD, and was considering getting a separate dress for it, but now I'm thinking about just using the actual ceremony dress so I won't have to deal with two dresses to buy and make alterations to. I don't think I'd do anything too crazy for it-just wear it into the water. So I guess I'm just wondering if it will be completely ruined after going into the ocean. Do you think it could be suitable for wearing again after drycleaning?

Ive not trashed a dress but there are lots of girls who have.Im just thinking i dont know of anyone who has posted there dress got ruined.Infact most have said the dress was cleaner.I have been to lots of wedding shops and fairs lately and all have offered the information that there dresses go in the washing machine on a 30 cycle.Im not sure if that can be said of silk dresses,but im sure youll be fine.I purchased a basque for £250 that retails for £3,000 at a wedding fair it was grubby so a good friend of mine laid it in a bath of liquid washing detergent and a toothbrush and it came out beautifully.We drip dried it on the hanger on the line sat back and watched it twinkle in the sunlight and if im honest breathed a sigh of relief but it worked

I'm so glad you posted this question. I am curious myself. I want to wear mine again for my AHR. I know it will need to get dry cleaned but I wonder how it would turn out after being soaked in water? And with the sand?

Taylorbride-I'm hoping to do the same. I love my dress and I want to wear it as long as possible!

 

I'd love to see before and after pictures of dresses that have been trashed. Hopefully there will be some responses!

My MOH and I were just talking about this!!! I want to wear my dress, but she's afraid it will get trashed and I won't beable to keep it! Decisions, Decisions!!

I think i've read another thread about this (can't remember the title), and most girls said it depends on the material, but I think the majority didn't have a problem getting it cleaned afterwards.

I would say go to a department store (Macy's, Norstrom...etc) and buy a cheap white dress so you won't have to worry and save your ceremony dress for the AHR.

If you do a search for TTD there are a lot of threads out there that already answer the question. I have never heard of any dress being really "trashed" but actually comes out pretty clean
