My best advice as you start down the road to your wedding day would be just to take your time and do lots of research before you book or buy anything (attire, flowers, you name it!) and make sure it's all that you've envisioned for your BIG DAY!

 

And that's where this phenomenal site comes in: BDW has proven to be invaluable in my planning, and it's comforting to know that there are other brides and grooms out there experiencing the same highs and lows during their planning process -- a friend is always just on the other side of your computer screen!

I booked/coordinated all of the following:

To my surprise its very easy and most people speak English or can understand my elementary Italian. Also we have having a small wedding. If there were more than 12 guests, I'd use a coordinator. But its been really easy and we've been able to save money on that to pay for other things like our honeymoon, better accommodations, custom wedding bands, photography, etc.

We are using a coordinator for the interpretation of the ceremony and to file our paperwork in Salerno (capital city of the province of Compania). Since we are not Italian citizens we must have our ceremony interpreted into English.

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions. I am pretty much done until six and three months out..that is when the legal part starts. We have to get new copies of our birth certificates with an Apostille stamp and it's only valid for 6 months. At three months out, we go to the Italian Embassy here in DC to fill out paperwork stating we are free to be wed.
