Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are the proud parents of a baby boy, PEOPLE confirms.

 

"In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. He weighs 7 lbs. 14 oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes," the couple wrote on Richie's Web site.

 

The newborn joins older sister Harlow Winter Kate Madden, born in January 2008.

I merged it. And I don't like the name. I wasn't a huge fan of Harlow when it was first announced, but I really like it now. It's grown on me. But Sparrow is too feminine or soft for a boy, in my opinion anyway!

Hmm.. I don't really like the name. Sounds more like a girl name than a boy name? Then again I rarely like celebrity baby names.. heh.

Congrats to them but Sparrow James reminds me of Jack Sparrow only reversed! lol Definitely not my cup of tea!

k glad you girls agree- I think its terrible too but I didnt want to be mean!

 

and not only is it a weird boy name but it sorta rhymes.. harlow and sparrow... i dont know just not lovin it.

 

but Congrats to them nonetheless.. I think they are an adorable little family!
