Bringing together US & MEX families

Hi all,

My name is Katherine and I am planning a June 2010 wedding together with my fi Daniel. I am from Indiana and he is from Mexico City. I would like to do a beach wedding and we are looking primarily at Puerto Vallarta (my pick b/c it's newer and flights are cheaper for US fam) or Acapulco (his pick b/c his family-friends can drive there).

In Acapulco we liked the Krystal Palace Beach Club, although pricey. We like the Revolcadero Beach area, but there are few hotel options there and we worry about getting guests to the beach club and back to town if they stayed in Acapulco Center. We haven't found a nice AI hotel under $160/night. I also worry about my US guests, not intl travelers, being overwelmed by having to find food - navigate downtown on their own.

Together, we have taken two trips to PV to scope out visits. Honestly we're not picky people, but I guess I have a certain idea of what I want and we're still looking for it. We were disappointed with the rooms at Occidental Allegro (old and very musty) but loved the beach and food was good. We were super disappointed with Samba Puerto Bonito (was just sold in July and renovations are on the table, plus the food/drinks were poor). We liked Marival Nuevo Vallarta (nice accomodations, restaurants seem classy- didnt eat there) but the wedding we saw there was right in the middle of the resort w/ no sense of privacy. We also visited Playa Arcos in the older side of town, but it was crowded and not right for us. Right now were are looking at renting a Palapa at a condo building in Punta Negra, PV and catering dinner, renting furniture.

What we would like:

semi-private / more secluded beach location for ceremony

dinner with sunset views, 40-60 guests

music and dancing until 11pm or later

our total budget is about 10,000 before bride/groom travel costs

AI hotel for our guests around $75-80p/p/n, child-friendly

I'm glad to have found the site here, any helpful suggestions are welcome!

You're gonna LOVE being a part of this amazing forum!!!

My best advice as you start down the road to your wedding day would be just to take your time and do lots of research before you book or buy anything (attire, flowers, you name it!) and make sure it's all that you've envisioned for your BIG DAY!

And that's where this phenomenal site comes in: BDW has proven to be invaluable in my planning, and it's comforting to know that there are other brides and grooms out there experiencing the same highs and lows during their planning process -- a friend is always just on the other side of your computer screen!

CONGRATULATIONS and Welcome to BDW...it's a wedding-planning heaven!
