I wouldn't be happy about it that's for sure. But I trust him and would try to keep my jealousy under check and keep communication open so I can tell if it's going to be a problem or put him in a bad position.

 

Would you ever not tell your FI if someone gave you money to help out because you don't want him to feel bad?

Yes, Mom mom helps us out with stuff for the wedding all the time and he hates it He wants us to be completely self reliant. But it usually comes out in the end anyways we can't keep stuff from each other long.

 

Not attend your son/daughters wedding if you didn't approve?

No, if my kids chose something I didn't agree with, I would let them know my opinion. But if they still make a decision like that, they are adults and I would be there to support them.

I'm glad our parents also think that way. FI's brother was married a few years ago and FMIL got drunk before the wedding so she could deal with not liking the girl but she was there to show her support. I think that's the important part.
