How to Get Sand Ceremony Home

Recommended Posts

Found this one online...soo cute I want it! It comes with a stopper for travelling after the ceremony but I don't know?? My FI and I were thinking we could do the ceremony here when we have a our legal ceremony just to have something tie into the beach theme. Then we don't have to travel too far with it and it wont be destroyed!

That is a really good idea, less luggage weight as well. I will def consider this. Thanks for sharing the site!

We brought our sand home in our carryon and we were not stopped at customs and the sand was fine. Ours was in the Umbra frame mentionned earlier and we made sure it was filled right up with sand before closing the lid and then I wrapped it in paper and put it in a plastic bag, and then put it in my carry-on and kept it upright.

When we came through customs, the officer was so interested in finding out how our wedding went, she barely asked us any questions....and we used coloured sand mixed with Punta Cana sand, so...she probably could have taken it away. Maybe keep the packaging from your sand bags to prove you bought it in Canada/US and that you used it for the wedding? Unfortunetly I don't think there is any guarentees...

we did our sand ceremony at our AHR but we stole sand from the dominican beach for one of the colors. we put it in a ziplock plastic container with the screw on lid then put it in a big ziplock bag.

we put it in our checked luggage and never got searched coming home so we had no issues taking our sand. it didn't spill either. sorry i'm not much help with bringing it once the ceremony is already completed

One of my friends did a sand ceremony, and her dad had the idea to bring epoxy. The day after the ceremony he poured epoxy onto the sand, about a 1/2 inch thick, and let it sit for a day. The epoxy hardened and stayed in place for traveling. It's a great idea for anyone doing a sand ceremony, because it makes it permanent and you cannot mess up the sand later. Hope that helps!
