Are you getting your stay for free or getting any other perks?

We didn't use a TA, however there's only 13 in our party and I booked everyone's air reservation myself (FI and I travel a lot on business and are used to it). We are not staying at an AI, however, we were all given a room rate of $119 per night and FI and I were upgraded to a Premier Suite (2 rooms, 2 baths) and were given 2 out of 6 nights free.

We booked through Palace Resorts directly. Everyone found their own flights and our TA is receiving commission.

Man I want something free....anything, a bottle of tequila?

We have a group contract flying out of Nova Scotia that has 20+ ppl booked so far and still counting for one full week - they are getting a bottle of tequila and a fruit basket in the room, free food on the plane a free glass of wine, free pillows all kinds ff plane perks.

We have 20+ flying through Air Canada from the rest of Canada...then we have 10+ from all over the world...so maybe I should look into the Resort to give us some perks for bringing 50+ people? Everyone in Canada has used the same TA...so that's 40 people but not flying with the same tour company...I wonder if there is anything she can do? I'll be giving her a little jingle in the morning!! Even if we can get one of us free then that means I can probably have my private Beach reception I want! Which may make me feel a little better about the resort I picked....but that's another story!

Thanks for the info I think I should have researched a bit more, now I'm just down right pissed!! Ugh! and here I researched my brains out, trying to find the best deal for everyone around the world...ended up deciding on a resort I didn't really want...and now I'm still getting nothing free!! lol

We are flying Air Canada.....not getting much for perks. FI and I get upgraded flight to first class......and thats it. The resort is going to upgrade our room if available.

It sounds like others are getting great deals, but I had no idea this was possible.

Oh well.....too late now.

Us too, and I'm really irked, I don't even think we got upgraded to first class...when did you book, and if you don't mind me asking, how many are booking with you through air canada?
I'm going to work on the resort to see if maybe I can get a room upgrade...others are getting great deals...but I'm sure some of the package pricing was more expensive too, so it really comes close to equal. I, like you, had NO idea...and I'm ashamed! lol because I always usually find the best deals...way too late now!
At least we have the confidence knowing our tour company "shouldn't" go out of business... )

Ha...you think you have issues...I only get perks from my hotel if I book 50 ROOMS for 3 nights!! Not a perk at all....I'm getting upset just reading this thread!!! LOL Oy...

From what my TA has explained to me, it has more to do with the hotel itself (and the specific tour operator you book with if you are from Canada) than your TA in determining what types of freebies or perks you will receive.

 

Although we are from Canada, we actually have opted to book our hotel and air separately instead of booking package deals through the Canadian tour operators as we found them to not be offering very good pricing and perks for us and our group.

 

So our TA is booking the hotel portion of our trip (we'll arrange for air later) with Travel Impressions, and for perks the resort is offering us every 12th person free, a room upgrade for every 10th person, and a private welcome cocktail reception for our group.
