Annoyed with David's Bridal alteration dept!

I have been searching all day for DB reviews on here and online. I got my dress at DB back in December 2009. I got great customer service there and everyone was so nice. So now I need alterations. Right now I only need a bustle, but I am hoping to lose more weight (at least 15lbs) before the wedding (on 10/22) so I would need it taken in too. I have heard so many bad reviews about DB I don’t know what to do. My cousin got her dress at the same DB I did and they messed up her alterations. I am so worried they are going to mess up my dress, but if they mess it up too bad, they will replace it. BUT I will be need alterations up to the last minute so I don’t have time for them to screw it up! I could always take it to a different DB (there are a lot near me), but they could also screw it up too. I know a local tailor that I have taken a bridesmaid dress too and they did an amazing job. But if I take it there and they mess up my dress I would have to pay for a new dress. UHHH!! I am super stressed about this! I have read so many bad things and it doesn’t seem like there is any good option! I feel like my head is going to explode! fryingpan.gif

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one in this boat.......I got my dress at DB's, I love it, the customer service was good with the purchasing end but when I was talking to the alterations department they were really rude, seemed annoyed to come out to answer my questions.... and suggested I book my first fitting for the beginning of July.......my wedding isn't until the end of November......I don't know but that just seems way too far in advance to me? Especially when I'm trying to tone up for my wedding...... I might look into someone local who can book me in sooner to my wedding day.....

Another one who got an insane price from DB with the first dress I picked out.  I ended up ordering a knock-off online, and took it to a local seamstress for alterations totaling $85.00.  Definitely find someone local, check Yelp.com for reviews or ask friends for a recommendation.  Oh, and my dress was ready in 2 weeks with one fitting after a week.

i tried to stay away from DB after my friends dress cost 649...then 975 after "alterations".  I couldn't believe that this is how much it costs to raise a hem!  INSANE.  I had my own experience at alfred angelo this weekend. I only went in intending to try on a style as i was going to order the dress through a shop that INCLUDES alterations (and they price match! So im waiting for the next sale at AA to actually finish the purchase)!  Unfortunately i picked a higher price point than i wanted (for the dress), but im happy that i dont have to worry about the added cost of alterations, esp since i've been losing weight!

The entire wedding industry is absolutely ridiculously expensive.  I would also suggest to shop around, look at the seamstresses work and maybe even try to find someone word of mouth! Good luck!
