yoohoo, my oot giving girls...help me!

Well girls I have a dilemma, my oot bags are draw string mesh beach bags, in them I have note pads, pens, first aid kits, travel candle, bath bombs, cards, lip balm, body butter, squishy stress ball, welcome letters, iternery, spanish phrases, and these beautiful travel personalized travel mugs.I have 40 of these bags. This is a lot of bags.

 

My problem is I don't believe there is anyway I can transport all of them to the DR with me. Keep in mind I have all of my wedding stuff, wedding attire for 7 of us, luggage for 5 kids and 2 adults, for 2 weeks. Nicole is sick so I also have alot of medical supplies, a car seat for Liam, a wheel chair, a walker, and a sliding board.

 

I am having a bar-b-q, 2 weeks before we leave, so this will be 3 weeks before everyone else meets us in the DR. I would have liked to have given them to our guests at our welcome reception the day everyone arrives (we will have been ther a week already), but I think I must give them out at the bar-b-q before we leave.

 

I am wondering who has done this, and my question for you is, did your guest bring the things you chose for them to have while away, or did they forget them at home? I am sooo worried that after all the thought that went into the oot bags, they will be forgotten. I really, really would be upset if ,especially, they didn't bring the cups we had made for this special occasion.

 

How do I ensure everybody knows that it's important too me, I am so torn about what I should do and how to handle it. Also will it still feel like a welcome reception if I do not have gift bags for my guests when they arrive?

Should I think of a small gift for the welcome reception, and if yes what? I also have fans and gifts for everybody at the wedding service and reception.

 

The final wedding planning details are driving me BONKERS. I want to stop overthinking every little thing, and I CAN"T!! I could use your input on this one girls, help!!

this may not help, but is there anyone else (family, friends, etc.) that can help you lug everything down to the DR? we didn't have that luxury either - but we did send some things home with my dad. at least the way home will be easier once you hand everything out!

Check with your airline..can you pay for additional bags? I would check with family first, but that may be an option.

any way to ship it to your WC? I think in the past some people have sent their welcome letters ahead of time, so if there is no way to get them to your wedding then give them out at the bbq and explain just what you did to us, I bet a lot of people bring them (just don't be hurt that a few won't) maybe mention that you worked really hard on them and the photographer plans to take a picture of everyone with them at the pool or something.

1. What is the sliding board for?

2. How much does Liam weigh? He may not need the car seat in DR. Or you can rent them from AAA. They have portable ones or for the short distance in the car regular seat belt. My son is tall but skinny so I can get away on short distance with the harness seat belt.

 

How about a portable booster?

Hi LadyP, a sliding board is exactly what it sounds like, Nicole is in a wheelchair, and unless the chair is of equal height as where she wants to sit, a car, a bed, lounge chair, ect, then she puts the board partially under her, and uses it to help her transfer to where she needs to sit, it is long and awkward, but very much needed.

As far as Liam's weight, he weighs hardly anything, he weighs about 36 lbs, and is not all that tall. I haven't looked into renting a chair in the DR, I know alot of people wouldn't worry about the seat, but I am such a worrier, and if anything ever happened to him because of such a simple thing as not having a car seat, DR drivers are crazy, I would never forgive myself. I don't know if he will be more comfy on the plane with his seat, luckily, he loves his chair.

Ok I am sorry about the sliding board question. I ASSumed it was for fun. She sounds very independent. I understand about the crazy drivers in DR. That I did not know. My son will give anything not to sit in a car seat. Car seat on the plane too? WOW, he really does love his car seat

okay you are officially super mom! seriously I had no idea, I am impressed. I think people would understand if you gave out the bags ahead of time.

This doesn't really help, but what if you gave your guests the bags at the bbq... but still packed the mugs with you? Tied a little note to them and then placed those in their rooms? It's a LITTLE less to carry, but it would insure that they bring them!

I don't know if you can carry the car seat on the plane. you may want to check the tsa site, with all the strict rules these days!!
