I challenge you..30 days to a healthy lifestyle

If you're reading this, then you've come across a little project that I've cooked up. I'm going to take the next 30 days of my life, and dedicate them to living my life in a more healthy manner. This means I will hit the gym several times a week, I will do my best to quit smoking the cigarettes I love so much, and I will give up my love affair with Runza.

My challenge for the lovely ladies of BDW is to come up with your own little ways to challenge yourself to live a healthier lifestyle, and to take the next 30 days to make a habit out of it.

Thought this would be an interesting way to keep track of the changes I'm making, and by all means if anyone would like to join me on my challenge for the next month, this would be a great way to keep each other on pace! I dare you...

Great idea!

i'm doing the cheat your way thin so my diet has changed drastically. I do, however, need to add in exercise. I have been sorely lacking.

I'm sick now with bronchitis but once I get better I'm going to resolve to exercise 2-3x a week (Ideally I would like to do more but small steps I think are best for me).. once I can do that I will go for 4 days per week and if I can keep up with that I may even shoot for 5 days!

Beyond the CYWT diet, I had previously given up trans fats and high fructose corn syrup (did you know it's even in Nyquil??) I got some prescription cough medicine and it took them 10 minutes to find one that is no sugar. When I get to the pharmacy to fill it, they say , "they don't make that kind anymore"... Luckily the pharm found one and got it approved by the doc. I have enough trouble dieting, I don't need sugar/HFCS from cough syrup :)

OK sorry to get off topic..

EDIT: I forgot one more thing -- I am a "social" smoker -- i can go for days/weeks without one but when I drink or when I'm with someone who smokes, I always want one.. I want to stop "social smoking"

Drinking -- i have stopped on the CYWT diet but in general I need to cut down on the alcohol consumption. I love a dirty martini!!! lol

So those were 2 other small changes I have made.

Interested to hear what everyone else comes up with

I am so in! I need motivation to get my butt to the gym and am trying to turn my attitude around by reminding myself that I am doing something good for me. It helps to have support! My goal is to lose 50 pounds over the next year and increase my activity tolerance. This is a great place to start!

Count me in! I just started yesterday with changing my eating habits. I am a carb and junk food junkie lol. I have Turbo jam sitting collecting dust and a gym membership that I pay for and do not use. I am going to follow the beach body menu I was given in my turbo jam order. So I am going to change my eating habits, and try to make it to the gym (I have been working long hours so this is going to be a challenge)

Good Luck everyone

Midnight...what you might consider is a gym buddy who already loves to work out! They can be super helpful to keep you motivated. Also, something that helps me is breaking it into smaller goals. Everyday I tell myself "I just have to make it through this workout," or I reward myself for sticking to the program by going to get my nails done, or buying a new pair of shoes...sort of a positive re-enforcement.

i'm in!

i have a terrible habit of coming home from work everyday and binge eating...a whole bag of movie theatre popcorn...any chocolate i can get my hands on...4 otter pops in a row. hahaha - i'm a pretty compulsive eater. would like to lose 10 pounds. more so than the weight, i really want to tone up. my pooch is growing. i can't do the gym. just. can't. do it. muscle.gif BUT - i will make an effort to follow some of the workouts on my bro's youtube channel...don't need a gym, just me and my laptop and privacy of my own home. will let you know how those work out.

let's do it, ladies!!!

and yes - i would love to hear about the detox as well, please!

oh - and - QUIT THE BUTTS!! i'm just past 8 months now!! 12/23/08...after 13 years of smoking quit cold turkey! my advice is this: don't say you quit smoking, or your quitting smoking...when you stop, just say you're not a smoker. smile78.gif
