We did the hand blessing and sand ceremony. Ours was very simple and symbolic though, we used natural sand from the beach our wedding was on and goblets:

We used shells I bought THE DAY OF THE WEDDING!!!! Found them at a store across the street, I did have a back-up plan! My MOH bought the vase at Wal-Mart there! I didn't want to haul glass, so we left the vase. I'm on the hunt for something with a lid- similar to the cork ones already posted. Here's the pic:
