I just found this.. I hope this helps

How Can I Get a Mexico Tourist Card?

If you're flying to Mexico, you'll be given a tourist card and instructions for filling it out on board your plane -- the cost of a tourist card (about $23) is included in your plane fare. The card will be stamped at customs/immigration in the Mexico airport, showing you are in the country legally.

If you're driving, taking the bus or walking into Mexico, you can get a tourist card at the border inspection station/immigration office after showing your id or passport proving your US citizenship. You'll need to go to a bank to pay for the card (about $20) -- it will be stamped to show that you've paid. You will then return to the border immigration office to have the card stamped -- the stamp shows that you are in the country legally.

You can also get a tourist card at a Mexico consular office or Mexico government tourism office in a US city before you travel to Mexico.

I went to Cancun last August & apparently the tourist card is part of the form that they make you fill out before the plane lands. They rip off the bottom part & stamp it & give it back to you & I just mindlessly through it in bottom of my bag. Well when we went to go back home they asked for that little piece of paper; by some miracle it was still in my bag. So, make sure you hang onto that little booger when they hand it back to you (I've heard if you loose it that then you must pay to get a new one.) Hope that helps!!

When I flew to Mexico the flight attendant was handing the forms out once you stepped on the plane. After you land and after you get the form stamped the customs person will stick the bottom part inside your passport. I recommend that you keep it in your passport the whole time so that you don't lose it!

We had the same thing happen to us with the airlines nor customs told us to keep the card. Thank goodness we stuffed it in with our passport so we had it on the way back.

I've posted all over our wedsite and included in our pre-wedding brochure to make sure you keep this card safe while you are in Mexico. Also added notes to make sure you have a pen on the plane to fill it out.

I NEED AN UPDATE ON THIS QUESTION

For the life of me I don't remember if you have to pay for the tourist card they give you at the airport. Has anyone traveled to Mexico recently that can help me with this.

Thank you!
