Thank you Jackie :) Actually I was really worried about my dress being so big and heavy for a destination wedding but it really wasn't that bad and I was SO HAPPY that I chose this dress to wear for our wedding! My husband LOVE IT and it fit the setting so beautifully. The part that got the hottest was under the skirt... the inside layer of my crinoline stuck to my legs for a little bit but other than that it was fine :) LOL!! ... it was SO WORTH IT!!!!

Loved the photos!!! Question- where did you or your bridesmaids get those flowers pieces for the hair!??!?! are they real?!?
You are going to crack up about this one... it cost me about $3 for ALL SIX hair flowers! I found some really pretty bunches of silk flowers (about 6 blooms per bunch) in my shades of pink at the Dollar Tree!!!! LOL! They have them all the time. I cut off each bloom and my husband hot glued them to clips that I bought at Joanne Fabric for $1.99 (6 per pack!) The girls loved them and they were optional if they wanted to wear a hair flower or not and they all wore them :)

Hey! LOVE your pictures!

Where did you have your reception/dinner? Is that on the Grand side?

Our reception was on the Caribbean Terrace (above the Moon Grand Restaurant) and it was GORGEOUS!!! Hands down the best reception site for smaller groups (we had 37 people) in the entire resort. I've heard it referred to as the rooftop bar also. My coordinator said they recently started charging extra to reserve that spot now. I believe she said an extra $12 or $15 per person. They had the dance floor set up under the palapa and the dinner tables surrounding it. Our lounge furniture was set up when you first walk up the stairs, but there are also lounge chairs and tables there already on the other side of the palapa :)

Did you have your hair and makeup done there?
Yes! I had my hair and makeup both done by Alberto at the Sunrise salon and he is AMAZING!!!! I showed him a picture of how I wanted my hair and the makeup he just did on his own because I forgot to print a picture... I LOVED IT! He also put on my false lashes for me and knows what he's doing :) Another MP bride referred him to me and I am SO GLAD I requested him!

1. I'm thinking about having my wedding dinner at La Trattoria (15 total guests). Has anyone been to that restaurant? Thoughts? Opinions?
I think La Trattoria would be THE BEST place to have your wedding dinner at. It's very elegant and the surrounding at the golf course restaurants is beautiful. They also have THE BEST FOOD... in addition to the Japanese restaurant that is right next to it (YUM!).

What section of Moon Palace is everyone staying in? We are staying in the Sunrise and it seems like the more I read that may have been a mistake. From what I understand the Grand section is non-ocean and further away but it sound like the Nizuc section is the best. Any thoughts? I don't know if we are going to be too late to switch though.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the sides. It really just depends on what you're looking for. Here are some of the things I know about each:

Sunrise: Huge lobby-great for getting together with people for drinks, swing bar outside, largest pools at the resort, houses the dance/disco "Andromeda", salon, gym, gift shop, has the kids play water area for those with little ones

Nizuk: Has a smaller lobby than Sunrise but still very nice, houses the wedding offices, salon, gym, gift shop, has all three wedding gazebos, large outdoor pool area but quieter and smaller than Sunrise (a little more party atmosphere at Sunrise)

Grand: Tiny lobby area (not for getting together with people), gorgeous new rooms, smaller infinity pools but VERY NICE, much quieter than the other two sections, fewer restaurants nearby however this section is BEAUTIFUL.

There is A LOT MORE to each of these areas but this is what I know of them. I've stayed at the Sunrise and Nizuk side and have had a great time at each of them but prefer the Sunrise lobby for getting together with friends and the HUGE fun pool area that offers a lot of variety and has the swing bar wink.gif

The ocean at the Moon Palace is not the best beach Cancun has to offer... but the main draw for this resort is EVERYTHING else... you will not regret it.. there is SO MUCH MORE at this resort than ANY OTHER in Cancun. However many tend to take day trips to the other Palace resorts (Cancun, Sun, Beach Palace) to visit the beach to get the turquoise water experience (there are shuttles provided for that)...however lately the water conditions for all of Cancun beaches lately are very strong and there are usually Red flags out (no swimming) anyway but it's nice to walk on the beach or lay out. There was also A LOT more seaweed than normal at the Moon Palace when we were there but none at Cancun and Sun Palace (We didn't go to Beach Palace this time and we honeymooned at Sun Palace)

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Alison :) We were also going to have rose petals down the aisle however it was so windy there was no point. They would have blown all off to the side... my veil was blowing to my right side most of the ceremony.. but the wind was just a crap shoot because other days it wasn't as windy and the day after my wedding it POURED RAIN off and on in the AM... so we were lucky to just get wind :)

I was just thinking of using the resort's upgraded photography package but now I am seriously thinking about bringing in Octavio Montes. I've seen his work and I really like and his rates are really competitive. Just out of curiosity, to those MP brides who brought in an outside photographer, how many nights stay did you book them for? Is there a minimum night requirement to stay in MP?

It was GORGEOUS! We went to take a peek at it two days before the wedding and it was GORGEOUS even without any wedding stuff!!... just a gorgeous terrace/bar area overlooking the pools below and ocean with potted plants and bamboo around and the palapa gave it a wonderful tropical feel and made for great pictures :) The 'real bar' was used as our wedding bar! OH YES, it fit our 37 VERY nicely and I'm sure could probably fit a couple more tables. We used 5 tables for dining, 1 cake table, 1 guest book table, buffet table, DJ had a table, lounge furniture set up and lantern structure over lounge area. Everyone loved it!

We booked ours for 2 nights. They've done other weddings at the MP so they are familiar with their surroundings there and I LOVE THEIR WORK! They did a wedding at MP 2 days before mine :) They were also great people and we're SO GLAD we chose them! They took pics of our rehearsal dinner, getting ready pics, wedding ceremony, reception, and a TTD session two days after the wedding :) All for a great price for the amazing quality of their work! We used Tammsphotos.com (Tammara and Grant) and I will post a full review once we get our pictures. We were able to see some pics on their cameras already and they were FABULOUS!! (plus the teaser one Tammara sent me that's in my siggy). Our entire experience with them so far has been 100% positive :)

Jodimichelle: double-check with your WC about shipping items. I read someplace that MP does not accept shipments for brides anymore. I actually thought about buying a short-term post office box to have a Cancun address to ship to. I changed my mind when I read the horror stories of other BDW brides who shipped wedding items (one was the actual wedding gown) and they didn't make it on time, got there damaged, or didn't make it at all. I also heard that international shipping rates were ridulous. So far, the general concensus on this forum is that it's best to just pay the airline's extra baggage fees and have your receipts ready for customs!

I think you might be able to ship items down to them! I know I plan on doing that.
