Please help me with shoes (and veil ideas, while we're at it)!

Recommended Posts

Once again, I'm going to turn to you girls for help.

I can't decide on shoes. I bought some bronze ones that will do in a pinch, but I'm not wow'ed by them.

Here are my constraints: They can't have a spike heel because it'll be in the sand. They can't be too tall, because I'm already 5'9" and the FH is 6'0". My dress is an ivory color with some mocha and pearl beading. I really hate gold overtones. I wanted some of those 'barefoot sandals' thingies, but if I get them, I want them in rhinestone, not any sort of beading. And, of course, I don't want to spend a fortune on my shoes.

Oh, and also, I hate flipflop styles.

So, help! And I know your work is cut out for you.

On the veil side: I have hair to my shoulders and a cathedral veil. How do girls wear their veils? Do I have to get a tiara (I'm afraid with the jewelry I want, that'll be too much bling)? How in the heck do you wear a veil without a tiara/does it look stupid?

P.S. three more weeks!

well, I'm probably no help on the shoes because I've bought 3 different pairs and don't really love any of them.

As far as the veil, some people wear them on top of the head, some people tuck them under their hair in the back (if their hair is pulled back)

I don't think you have to have a tiara. I had bought one, but I think I might go with a flower instead, I'm still undecided.

did you already get your veil? If not ebay has cheap ones, I know you like to go the cheap route like me. let me see what I can find for shoes.

you can do the veil at the back of your head, and they have small combs so you don't have to wear a tiara...I will try to take a picture of mine later but I also think that a veil with a flower is really pretty!

I just got these shoes for my after I can't wear my heels anymore...they are sorta flip flops, but you could do a pretty flat sandal like this

Good question Laura. When trying on dresses, do they always plop some hideous veil on your head? Honestly, it gives you no idea on how the thing is really suppose to look. I'm clueless on the veil as well.

But I got time to work it out...fortunately. 3 weeks...that's exciting.

Jill, I did already get the veil. It was part of that final excursion with my mom that offended my bargain hunter/cheapskate sensibilities where she just went and pretty much purchased everything I had on (without even checking to see if we could get it cheaper on the internet! Crazy!) But it's very pretty.

I'm wondering if a flower with the veil would go since my dress is a little more formal, but I love the idea of it.

I am really trying to do without the tiara, and I like the idea of putting the veil on the back of the head, but my hair's so short, I have no idea how I'm going to wear it.

Although, if I get a tiara, I can wear it to my reception, too! And for the rest of the week around the resort in my bikini!

oh okay, thats right, not I remember! I think you can still wear your veil in the back even if your hair is short.

I love the idea of wearing the tiara all week!

I bought a small tiara, nothing crazy and I also have a flower, I can't decide which to wear.

Laura, have your hair half up and then put the veil on where your hair clips would be. I will be doing a trial with my sister on Wednesday so I promise to take pics for you and post them...
