First off, im amazed at how much you had to do with the planning of your wedding  - AWESOME. 2nd i am soo sorry to hear that it rained on your day- i would seriously be pissed but i think the fact that you guys made the best of it is great..... knowing that something would be worked out in any situation really makes me feel better.

I think its horrible that DRC plans so many weddings and then has things set up in the ball rooms at night knowing that theres always a chance of rain, they should always have one of the ballrooms available. They also shouldnt plan so many weddings at once so that if things happen, like a hurricane, the couple has other options!!!!!! reading that made me angry!!!!!!!

im just kind of curious in general how you found the resort all week as far as the food goes & service by the pool & if your group went to cancun or playa any of the nights to party ? im thinking of having the party bus pick everyone up and take us all out the night after my wedding.

thank you for sharing your story, your tips and the OOT bag info.. also the catamaran trip sounds great i might consider it now... lots of luck with your new bride ;) POST SOME PICS!

I   thought the service was great everywhere. We had a server serving us drinks at our plunge pool-even though they are not supposed to (not sure why). Everyone at all the restaurants and bars are so friendly. the service on the beach is great. we ordered food and drinks everyday from different servers. I didn't hang out much by the pools, but it looked like there was always plenty of servers running around.

All the food was good too. no one on our trip had any sicknesses or anything. I was just so excited to eat, i ate like a pig!! There is plenty of variety at each restaurant. My favorite was portofino (italian), but really i loved all the restaurants.

We took a cab ride to Playa Del Carmen one night. It was awesome. We asked the concierge and the cab driver for recommendations on where to eat. they both named the same 3 restaurants. when we got there, there was so many places to eat! We went with La Parilla, which was one ofthe recommendations of the concierge and cab driver. it was so good, everyone said it was the best meal they had during their stay. lots of shopping there too.

My husband went on a fishing trip. I was going to go too, but it was only dudes going so i stayed at Dreams and hung out. They had fun. they were gone from about 10am-5pm. It was in Puerto Morelos so they were really close. The fisherman got the fish, they my husband and the other fellas reeled them in i guess.

My nephew went on a whale shark swim. He borrowed out underwater camera and got some amazing pictures! he was gone from about 6am-5pm. he LOVED it.

We tried walking to Puerto Morelos on Tuesday in the Hurricane (it wasn't raining at first) but had to turn around. We went for it again on Wednesday. It was a 2km walk (seemed longer), but when we got there, everything was shut down because they lost power due to Ernesto. We did go into a couple shops that were open though. We bought a dish which i was really excited about.

also forgot one detail~~~~

the pool deck is under construction!

if you are planning on having your reception there, it is about 70% blocked off... they are replacing it, and working very slow.

there is still about 30% left so its probably good for a small reception or cocktail hour.

we wanted the pool deck so bad, it didn't matter because of the storm but we would have been pissed as I'm sure other brides have been recently.... no notice, no warning, nothing just closed for renovations.... very frustrating.

We started in the Master Suite but the night of our rehearsal dinner they upgraded us again to the presidential suite for the remainder of our stay!

-chapstick

-kleenex

-aloe vera

-hand sanitizer

-bandaids

kelly im pretty sure the tables hold a max of 8 or 10 ppl.... im sure the less ppl the more comfortable the table is.. iwouldnt do more than 8. im doing a plated dinner, if you are you have to give them a seating chart... if not im not sure if it matters you can probably just bring seating cards with you when you go and have them put them out somehwere for ur guests to grab when they get there.... if that helps,

Thanks- they were actual beaded strings my friend bought them from a party store and we just gave to wedding planner and they hung them up. They were blowing with the wind but nicely- I felt like it was just a nice touch because I kept everything very simple

Thank you!!
