I also booked our wedding for 11:00AM because it was the only time left. On the upside, it will be nice to be able to enjoy the rest of the day as a married couple :) And it will be nice for your guests because they can enjoy the rest of the day after your wedding festivities.

I'm also debating about reception. What type are you having? I'm hoping to simply have us all eat together, have drinks, cake, etc. instead of having a fancy, formal reception.

What are you thinking about for a time? One thing I want to make sure of is that we have enough time to take pictures and freshen up before the reception. At my friend's wedding, we were very rushed because it was a 4PM wedding and our dinner arrangements were around 6PM. And I felt very dirty after all of the pictures on the beach and would have liked more time in between.

So taking that into consideration, I'm leaning toward a late lunch reception around 2:00. Hopefully this helps! You'll have to let me know what you decide!

Chelsey, for us our ceremony is at 2 pm, and I wanted a couple of hours as well, we are springing for cocktail hour from 2:30-4 pm but yes it is kinda crazy to pay for alchohol at all inclusive, but its done, and then I wanted the dinner set up at 5:30 for pictures closer to and then dinner to be served at 6, so that way we have 3 hours (accounting for 30 min. of pictures of group/cocktail hour) before dinner plus I figure the two of us will want just a quite moment to take it all in and not feel rushed and I am crazy about pictures, not sure that other ladies have spaced things out quite as much

I'm wondering if it is possible just to have a dinner together in one of the restaurants instead of paying to have a full reception. Does anyone have any information/advice?

Thanks for your help!

Ill let you know if i hear back from Ana though!

I will be interested to hear what you guys hear back from Ana about getting a section of a restaurant for a welcome dinner or reception. I asked her about this for my welcome/rehearsal dinner and she told me that since they don't accept reservations at the restaurants, that I just have to "show up" with my group of 30 to one of the restaurants at 6pm and get tables near each other. Hopefully, if a lot of brides are asking about this, she will try to make accommodations.

I might just have to start a new post to see what drink others have used as a signature drink! I asked Ana, but she didn't answer all of my questions (shocking!) bann.gif
Yes, that sounds like so much fun to have the waiters walking around with a bunch of the same color drinks at the cocktail hour. I was thinking a blue drink with an orange in it or something like that :) I guess this is something I could just work out with Ana when I get down there before my wedding. I will be there 4 days before my wedding

I have been absent for a few days because we got 2 puppies :) and they are needing constant supervision for housebreaking right now! Kind of a bad time to get puppies with all of the wedding planning but they were just too cute to pass up!

Anyway, it is nice to see lots of new brides getting married at DRC!! I noticed a lot were asking about photography. I am using Claudia Rodriguez. I love her work and she was reasonably priced. I searched on here and then emailed a few of the photographers for pricing. They were all very quick to reply and very nice! This thread has great information on a lot of Cancun area photographers:

I know I posted this question before, but I don't think I got any responses and figured I will ask it again since there are some new brides. Is anyone going to use the cocktail hour at DRC? If so, where are you planning on having it? I had thought we might do the garden area because it would be a change in scenery and this way the guests would not all be watching us take our photos...ha! But I am having a hard time picturing how it would be set up. Just wondering what everyone else is planning on doing. For those of you who have chosen to use it towards a welcome dinner instead, what does that mean? Will you have a set up similar to the cocktail hour?

Our linens will have the blue overlay so not sure that a blue drink would have that pop of colour, but I donâ€t see all the guys drinking a pink drink... I considered just going for a bright yellow or green to make it stand out. Like in a martini glass most likely. I have also seen tequila tasting set up with a blue martini glass with lemon wedges in it, looks super pretty - if you donâ€t know what I mean I will dig up the picture and post it here :)

Happy planning!
Are you planning on having the signature drink during the reception or the cocktail hour? I ask because you had said that you would have blue overlays. Are you using the blue overlays at the cocktail hour too?

hmmm yeah I only thought of doing the signature drink during our reception at DRC, I believe there is an extra charge for it at Secrets Marom during cocktail hour, although that would be nice because during our cocktail hour its only going to be white linen with bows. The blue overlays will only be used for dinner reception set up at DRC.

With blue I think this is kinda cool

Ooh, I like that! But I don't know if I should get everyone all drunk on Tequila shots before the reception even starts...ha! Also, I think I have a lot of whimpy friends/family when it comes to shots. A foofoo drink will probably be better. But I do like how the blue looks!
