Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Thanks Lindsey!

I never received that, but that could be because my wedding is so far away still. I wish it was sooner! Would you be willing to email me anything that you have? My email is [email protected]. I just emailed Ana and asked her about the cake upgrades. I know itâ€s early but Iâ€d still like to be on top of everything as early as possible so I can try to keep track of the costs as I go. I also just booked the sound technician for the ceremony, I had forgotten all about that!  I do save all my emails to Ana, that is why I try to email little things every few days. So that I can use her replies as quotes to have when I get down there.

I know that you visited and Iâ€ve read youâ€re posts but I canâ€t remember, did you see any weddings while you were there?  What do you think of the jacuzzi area for cocktail and the pool deck for the reception?  Do you think you will get the light up dance floor? I donâ€t know if I really want it, but if you donâ€t have it does everyone just dance in the sand?  Also, can heels be worn on the pool & jacuzzi deck? Do you plan on staying there afterwards for your honeymoon? I am so torn with that.  Iâ€m sorry I have so many questions! Itâ€s a little strange planning a wedding somewhere Iâ€ve never been!

When Yamina first contacted me she basically gave me an empty email form with items such as location, time, dj if needed, flowers, table linen color, etc.  I then copy and pasted it into a word document with all of these pictures of things I want.  I basically scoured the internet looking for things that fit into our wedding color scheme and put them in a document with Yamina's questions and then sent it out.  She sent it back with price quotes for everything and I've adjusted accordingly.  One thing some other brides have pointed out is that it's good to save every email...so my thread with Yamina is soooo long and has a zillion different versions of my word doc, but I think if a price is quoted in am email, they honor it...so print them all out and bring them down with you!

Thats just an example of some of the things she asked.  I can show you more if you want.  I just assumed everyone got it.  My wedding is also less than a year away so maybe that's why she sent me all that?  I saw the AA discount thing but I also kind of assumed my TA would take care of that.  Maybe I will look into it more!!  US Air is my fiance's client so maybeeeee we'll use them.  Who knows!!!  I just want my Save The Dates to be finished so I can get them out!  Our website is up and running, though!  :)

I hadddd to see it in order to plan our wedding there, which is why we took full advantage and visited on our vacation!  We are using both the jacuzzi and the pool deck.  We're getting married on the north beach, doing cocktail at north jacuzzi, and reception on deck.  We found the north jacuzzi to be a bit more private because the flowers and other foliage are taller than the south jacuzzi.  Just something to think about!  The ones in my videos are the south jacuzzi though.  :)  I did get the quote for the dance floor.  We think it will rieally add to our reception so I think we're gonna go for it!  They quoted me $500 for it.  :)  I am wearing like...satin wedges and I think I will have my girls do the same.  We thought about going barefoot on the beach but then didn't know where we'd put our shoes.  I guess to answer your questions heels on the pool deck and jacuzzi would be fine but I think you would sink in the sand!  :)  I will fwd you the emails from Yamina.  :)

Thanks so much for the email!  It's so helpful. I wasn't aware that there are 2 jacuzzis so I will have to see which one Ana booked for us. How big is your wedding party and how many guests are your expecting?  I can't decide if I want to do the sit down dinner or the buffet.

That's exciting that your save the dates are ready! I was so excited when we got ours. Like I said, we were holding off but so many people kept asking so we sent them to give everyone more than enough notice.

Hey ladies.  I'm getting married in less than about 3 months.  I'm just starting to work on templates and OOT bags.  I ordered my linens from wedding linens direct but I have a question for you.  I ordered the 90x90 inch organza overlays.  A former bride suggested the 85 inch but that size is not available in organza.  Do you think these will be too big?

THIS MAY SOUND LIKE A STUPID QUESTION BUT WHAT DID YOU NEED THE OVERLAYS FOR?? I AM SOO NEW TO ALL OF THIS AND AM TRYING TO MAKE LISTS OF THINGS I WILL BE NEEDING AND LOOKING FOR.

Hi and welcome.  I've purchased organza overlays to go over the white linens that the resort provides.  They also provide the overlays but it's an extra cost and it's not cheap.  So I ordered chair sashes and overlays in our color.

OMG, Kad, we're inviting 195 people to Mexico.  I think I want to cry when I think about all those people potentially saying yes.  My fiance doesn't think any of his aunts and uncles and first cousins will come [those are 50 people alone] and we're really only expecting about 60 people.  They said we can do the sit down with 60 but it is not recommended so I guess we'll choose a buffet.  Jorge explained to me during the tour that the South Jacuzzi is often used for the bamboo gazebo but the North for the North beach.  I would definitely clarify with Ana though because the North is definitely more private.  One of the things I loved most about Dreams too is the covered reception area for if it rains.  It's still open air but with a glass roof.  It looks really quite beautiful.  It's the Desires Terrace.  You can check it out in my video.  Dreams is probably the best decision EVER!
