This is what I found, one of the previous DRC bride's response.  Hope that helps.

I used Jorge, one of the resort photographers. I've been told multiple times by friends and family that I had the best wedding pictures they've ever seen - I was very happy. You can see my slide show here: http://talkington.adventurephotosmx.com/ My advice: they will take as many pictures as you want for no extra charge, wedding day and before and after. Plan on buying them all for about $800 and have them come to everything, even just hanging by the pool, TTD, rehearsal, etc.

Thanks so much! cheers.gif

It's going really well!  I'm very excited!  We can't get rates yet cause flights aren't available until 11 months out...that's making me nervous!!  We are thinking last week in January/first week in February 2012..

I'm not sure about the DJ..I checked out the Facebook  page - doesn't look the same as Ivan.  I'm still waiting for them to answer my questions about the DJ's..I want to know why the charge is $500 to bring somebody in from outside.  I don't understand why it is so much money.  I've heard DJ Mannia is awesome - waiting to see if anybody else knows more about them.  Gonna see if I can find a thread on them...

Our colors are purple, gray (dark gray)..with accents of gold, black, and white...

What are your colors?  Do you have your dress?  Your BM dresses??

We will us their photographer.  I'm not to worried about pictures..hiring an outside photographer is very expensive and I think the Resort Photographer does a wonderful job!  My future sister-in-law's sister is invited to our wedding..she has photography experience..if she comes I might ask her to take some shots.  With all the camera's that will be there I'm not worried about pictures!

We are having a friend video tape everything - my FI will edit it and put it all together to make our "Wedding Video"!

Wow. Purchasing 3 Dreams of Love packages is a smooth idea! We will have to ponder that for our wedding as well since we are having anywhere from 50-70 people. What a smart thought to share, thanks!

I was just planning on writing a note because today I spoke with Veronica from Dreams and she was so lovely and we powered through a lot of details and solidified a few things and clarified some others, and it really made me feel much better about the whole thing. None of the WCs up until now has made an effort to actually speak to us on the phone and to clarify so many things early on like we just did. I feel really good about her and about Dreams as our wedding location.

At less than 4 mos out for our May 14th wedding, it was really nice to connect with her and get some of my bridal worries put to rest. I have been planning and working with Dreams for over a year now, and it has been unnerving to have so many changes take place with staff and DJs, etc. Also to not hear from them more than just an email here and there has been really tough on my tendencies to fret and worry about details and plans. But today I feel like I got some time to work out some things and was taken care of nicely and professionally and I am really pleased.

I am going to put my trust in all the reviews on here and in the past brides and their terrific advice, and I am going to feel confident that everything is going to be great. Even if there are a few bumps here and there, that is the nature of weddings anywhere, so I am not going to freak about it all. I am just going to do everything I can on my end to be really organized and have all my emails and price quotes and info ready to go so that we know we did all we could on our end, and the rest is up to the universe.

I hope this little note helps make people who are just starting on their wedding planning with Dreams feel better about the lack of communication that happens at first. It gets better. Trust me.

I can't wait till we leave May 11th!

Cheers everyone!

I just got an email from Lisbeth about this very issue yesterday.  Our wedding is Dec 1/11, and we have also booked the ultimate package.  Lisbeth told me that you get the photographer for the ceremony and post ceremony beach portrait shots only with the ultimate package.  I asked about the upgrade cost, as we want the photographer for the entire day.  She sent our info DRERC PHOTOS ADVENTURES and asked them to get in contact with us regarding pricing.  I will let you know what I hear back from them.  I still am not sure who to use for the photography.  We are trying to decide if we want to go with an outside vendor or not.

I just got off the phone with Lisbeth and I have to give the resort some credit... as the date approaches, they are much more available.  Our wedding is still 3 months away (May 3, 2011) and Lisbeth has tried getting in touch with me for 2 weeks now and I'm the one who keeps brushing her off! Haha.  She was very organized when we spoke and she remembered (or had in front of her) everything we had previously discussed in emails.  She was very sweet and easy to communicate with.

Here is what we discussed:

We will have the garden chairs for the ceremony (on the beach) and the covered banquet chairs for the reception (on the deck).  Plated dinners (not buffet) and what menu (we haven't chosen yet - oops).  What I wanted to do about my bouquet (you can choose any of the bouquet options for your package and change the colours of the flowers) and bridesmaid bouquets ($90 each for the ones I chose - sigh).  Round or square cake and do I need flowers for it.  DJ (and the doremixx situation), times for ceremony and reception to start, cocktail hour location and food choices (we aren't doing one - gets too expensive so we are sending everyone to the lobby bar).  We can have 6, 7, 8 or 9 people at each table - we don't have to choose or let her know our seating chart until we get there.  My hair and makeup appointment times (2:30pm - our ceremony is at 5:30pm).

I can't remember what else but that's how it went, to give you an idea!  I had to rush off the phone as she had caught me between patients.  So brides, have no fear!  I'm jumping on lcraney's bandwagon and putting my trust in past brides' reviews and Lisbeth... I'm sure it will all work out beautifully and either way I'm getting married and going on a 2 week vacation somewhere hotter than here! WOO HOO!

I am sooo happy and excited for everyone.  My colors are orange and sage.  I just found out from Veronica the coordinator that we do not have to pay the $500 resort fee any longer for an outside vendor.  The only fee you pay for the them is the day pass fee.  Just send your coordinator their info b/c she needs to contact them and have them sign some kind of contract.

I was reviewing the pricing for Claudia Rodriguez for photography and goodness, i can't believe how expensive she is.  I might use Janine's photographer from New York; Nick, his photos are so beautiful.

By the way, does anyone know how much Ivan charge for DJ'ing?

Unfortunately I am still looking for my Dress, gotta lose some weight too.  I just started the p90x so I hope that works lol.  Have you guys found your dress yet?
