Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I received some emails from Ana today! Yay!!!! However, the only outdoor reception venue is the beach. I was hoping to do some dancing with the sound system, but I'm not sure how that would work on sand, and I don't really want to pay for a dance floor. So, what have you seen done during the reception - I mean, you can only eat for so long, then what? Have any of you seen the indoor options?

Also, I got the photo package list from Ana, but it did not explain how to "add-on" or up the level. Anyone know how it works?

One more question for those who've been: we have several small children, and were wanting to get a ground floor room where we can put napping kids but still hang out with a group right outside the room. Would the plunge pool ocean view or plunge pool ocean front be good options? Any other options anyone could see working?

Thanks!

They are 12in X 108in!.
I actually left at least 10 of them there at the resort. ANA should have them.
They laid them on the tables where all the buffet food was on and all 6 guests table! Hope this helps...Leigh
Don't bother with the colored napkins. You wont need them.
Perfect - thank you!

I took a bunch of pictures which I promise to post tomorrow morning!

Right now the resort is at 60% occupancy and we thought it was perfect - there were a million chairs by the pool and on the beach so no real issues with that.

Kids...they didn't really bother us that much, but again, it's 60% occupancy.

Noise levels...the hallways are all tile and pretty open, voices and footsteps can carry and the walls are pretty thin. Oddly enough at about midnight the resort is super quiet (unless you're in one of the two bars open till midnight) but then at about 7:30am you hear doors opening and closing and kids running though the halls. It didn't bother me I just dragged my fiance to breakfast at 8 and we hit the beach chairs by 9 but I think he was a little annoyed.

Food...awesome - really really good food all around. I wish we could have eaten two dinners a night because we didn't get to try a lot of the restaurants. The service is fantastic - I will say that although everyone says tipping isn't neccessary - we tipped at dinner and if we stayed at a particular bar for a long period of time.

If your fiance's like cigars - go visit Victor in the cigar shop - tell him Casey and Ron sent you - we had a loooong talk with him this afternoon when we were waiting for our transportation back to the hotel. He's fantastic and all the cigars in there are cuban - he will have a box made specifically for you and your wedding party if you give him a few days notice.

We met with Yazmin - you can tell her and Ana know what they're doing. We saw the backup locations in case of bad weather - and they're really pretty. We looked at the locations we're using for the wedding day and the welcome party. The rest of the details she said really get done when we get there for the wedding.

Alright ladies - I will post the pictures tomorrow and if I think of anything else I'll post again!

Oh, this makes me feel so much better. Thanks for the review! I emailed you on FB. :)

If you are doing a wedding package, you get the set number of photo's and then it is $15 per additional photo, that you want. If you have one of the wedding packages, but you didn't want the photo package that comes with it, you would have to pay the FULL price of the next upgraded package. They don't do any pro-rating.
You should e-mail their photographer directly. They are really good about getting back to you with answers. [email protected]
Hope this makes sense!

Ok, ladies, I have a question for you.

My ceremony is at 1:00 (I really wanted later). I am having a hard time envisioning how it will all flow.

Ceremony at 1:00

Pictures - right after

Thinking about not doing a cocktail hour because then we can apply that towards cheaper per head charge for the reception.

Even if we DID do a cocktail hour, what do our guests do from like 3 til the reception starts (maybe like 6 or 7)?

I hate for everyone to get all dressed up for the wedding, then get their beach clothes back on, then get all dressed up again for the reception.

I just can't figure out how it is all going to work.

Any suggestions?

For the brides that got married already. Did you have a rehearsal the day before the wedding? I am wondering when and how if I write my own vows how does the officiant get a copy of it. Do I just give it to him that day of the wedding and he just reads ithuh.gif

Ok, so another random question to throw in the mix. My wedding isn't till 4 and I'm trying to find something to keep the fiance and the men entertained till it's time for them to get ready. There will only be a small group (like 5 men) so I was thinking maybe they could do the golf that is offered. Does anyone know how far away from the Dreams resort the other resort that offers golf is? Also, if they do a really early tee time, think they would be back in plenty of time to get ready? Me and the girls will be hitting the spa...so no problems for us! :)

I wrote our own ceremony (I got a little bit from this website and other sites and adjusted it to my own preference). I also wrote my personal vow as did my husband. You can use the resorts if you want to or use mine. It was short but sweet. I printed mine out and gave it to ANA who gave it to the officiant. He added a little bit which was fine with me. These guys do this all day long so there's no need to meet with him prior. They know what they are doing. Hope this helps...Leigh
