Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies I need some help! I am getting married at DRC January 25, 2014.

I had a lot of contact with Claudia when I first reserved the date but have not heard from her in two months. I'm getting really worried that I won't get everything done. All the posts are great but I've been unable to find some answers. I'd really appreciate any insight to these questions:

- My reception is at Oceana, what decorations do I need to have? I'd like to bring as much as I can but I have no idea what the restaurant looks like with no decorations.

- My cocktail hour is at the Jacuzzi, we have 45 guests and it looks really small, do you think it will be okay?

- My rehearsal Cocktail Hour is on the beach, any idea what decorations I should plan on for that?

- My friend is coming as my photographer so we did not purchase an extra package but we did get the Dreams Ultimate package that comes with photo and video. Did anyone use just the video that comes with the package? How did that turn out? Does anyone have contact for a videographer and how expensive is that?

- I haven't received any planning documents from Claudia except the Budget Planner, is there anyone else you'd suggest to contact?

Any advice would be great! Thank you!

did you get stuck with an $800 fee for Oceana?

The song for my bridesmaid is not going to be close to over by the time I'd be wanting my down the aisle song to start, so do they just do an abrupt stop of the first song and start playing the other, or is there some way to fade between? Just not sure how this works!

Our technician faded the songs out and started playing the next song as needed.  It seemed to go very smoothly for us, all of the songs playing at the right times etc., without abrupt changes.

Hey,

We are getting marrried January 13th at the DRC! The coordinators when you get there are absolutely fantastic and you honestly have nothing to worry about. We did a site visit in May and they walked with us around the property showing us the different sites. The Oceana is a grass/wood covered restaurant with two levels just off the beach. It is beautiful and I don't think you will need much in way of decorations. You do have to use the tables and chairs that are in the restaurant so that may be a downside as they are square tables. I am going to push them together to make rectangular tables. We are having lantern and small bud vases as centrepieces, nothing too crazy. The jacuzzi area isn't that big of an area (we have 26 guests) and that is where we are hosting ours. The other options was Desiree's terrace (covered area) but still nice seating, it is located up by the ballrooms at the front of the resort but it was a bit larger of an area. The jacuzzi is an open area but not a lot of seating so just depends on what you would like for your guests.

Our friend is coming with us as our photographer as well and we are just going to use the resort photographer for our ceremony. Our friends were married at Dreams Tulum and they were able to barter with their photographer and just buy the cd of all the pictures instead of paying for more to be printed. (So that is always an option as well).. The video that comes with the package is 30 mins and its of your vows and all the guests walking up. It is decent quality but nothing high end. Nice memory to have but if it really important to you there are a lot of videographers in that area. Claudia will probably send you in the next week or two the Wedding Planner Form where you have to fill out all your information about time, sites, guests etc. Don't stress too much about it because stuff can be changed when you get down there. When I get home I will try to find some pictures I took of the Oceana and private message them to you! Congrats!
