Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

It seems like I have a million questions these past few days...

Has anyone asked the wedding coordinators about using the freeze-dried rose petals that came up earlier?  We are having four little flower girls (our four nieces), and the cost from the resort is listed as $22 per bag of rose petals - is one "bag" enough for one flower girl, does anyone know?  I feel like I read at one point that they recommended 4 bags, but now I can't find that....  Anyway, I'm just thinking we might be better off going with the freeze-dried petals (for cost and volume), if they're allowed.

Actually, now that I think of it, I guess I'll need to bring flower girl baskets of some sort as well?  I didn't even think of that for some reason.  Does anyone know if the resort supplies anything you can use as a basket when you purchase the flower girl petals?  The number of things I'm bringing with me are starting to add up, lol...  If there's nothing provided, I'd love to hear what you brides with flower girls brought, made, or used!

Hi ladies!

I'm new here so I was hoping you could help me! Right now I'm between Dreams RC and NOW Jade..

My question is this:

once you book your package how do you go about choosing the photographer? I really want Juan Navarro.. He did my friends wedding at Dreams Cancun and her shots were BEAUTIFUL! I was her MOH and he followed us all day and was super sweet. I know that the photog comes with the package I just didn't know if there was a way to choose which photog or if Juan comes no matter what etc. I've emailed him already but I'm waiting to hear back so I'm hoping that someone can help me!

My date isn't until late 2014 so I should have plenty of time to book him but I don't want to book until I know I can have him. I'm open to switching my date around based on his availability. As you can tell photography is my number one priority. :)

Thanks!!! :)

hi everyone, SAVS thanx for the link to the maracas.... do they personalize them ?

i am getting so nervous because Lorena had me write her seperate emails for each part of the wedding and so far she only responded to my ceremony email.... she told me to re-confirm with Cesar the dj that he would be my sound guy and he hasnt wrote back yet...

i feel like with the weeks in between emails time is ticking away... i would have loved to have everything in order by now but it takes so long to get replies that i feel like ill be working on stuff right up to the week of the wedding !!

anyway does anyone know for the ceremony if u rent the sound system which is what i am doing do i need to bring the music on a CD? how does this work? Since Cesar is my DJ and sound guy ( i hope and think ) do i just tell him the names of the songs i want or am i bringing them to him ?

did anyone else bring lanterns and get charged the 60$ fee to hang them ? I am not happy about this !

also one last question, my fiance feels like instead of the 180$ to rent the sound system since i love the saxaphone why dont i jsut get the saxaphone player to play on the beach during the ceremony even though it costs more.... i am considering it but havent heard anyone talk about it so i am just curious i anyone knows about this, whether or not its a good idea, how it sounds.... etc . . .

I would definietly recommend the sound system. Atleast at the gazebo, there are alot of other things going on and your guests probably won't hear you or the minister.

No, they don't personalize them. But for that price, I couldn't turn them down. I'm sure you could write on them with a pretty sharpie or something if you wanted them personalized.

I really think something is going on with the DJ..... he used to post pictures on his facebook page every day of the weddings he was doing and he doesn't anymore. And all the weddings he used to post were at Dreams and I looked the other day and he posted 2 weddings at Secrets. And that's all he's posted recently.

I emailed him our song list for the ceremony and the reception a few weeks ahead of time and he downloaded all the music for us. That's why I was so nervous before we left... We hadn't heard from him at all so I had no idea if we needed to bring our music with us or if he was still taking care of it. He finally wrote me back 2 days before we left and said not to worry. If you don't hear from him, I'd have a back up ready... either on your ipod or a CD.

I would still recommend getting the sound system for the ceremony.... I really liked that we had a microphone to say our vows. You can hear is so clearly on the video. With the wind and everything else going on I don't think people will be able to hear you if you don't have the mic.

Savs, I am so worried about the DJ now after hearing about your experience. I just sent him (Cesar Mauricio) my song list this past weekend and havent heard back as of yet. We leave in 2 weeks :/

Question about using the microphone for the ceremony at the gazebo... did you think it was loud enough so that all the other guests as the pool can hear you? I want to make sure that im not broadcasting over the entire pool area! :)

I know you said you decided to use the poles with the lanterns and LOVED them. Did you decide this while you were down there, or did you have to give them a heads up before you left?

I am also not doing a cocktail hour and hoping that everyone will gather at the beach bar. The only thing I am worried about is that there are two other weddings going on that day, including one with 90 guests! and im hoping that they dont have the same idea :/ Did you notice any other weddings going on while yours was?

The resort uses adventure photos and they have a couple different photographers. The Owner/Manager/best rated is Anel.

Here is their website:
