Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Please don't flame me if this has been discussed (possibly numerous times) already....I got to page 88 reading straight through and just don't have the stamina to keep up with all this info! wink.gif

I am currently debating...started thinking Dreams PV was my first choice since I didn't want Tulum or Cancun. Nothing against those resorts at all, just Tulum is a long drive (why waste precious vacation time?!?) and Cancun is too urban for my taste. Anywhoo, then I saw a DRC review and WOW! What an amazing resort. So now I'm torn but leaning towards DRC.

Here's my question: We're having probably only 10-15 people, and the packages have us paying for stuff we don't want (like video and resort photog) and I'm wondering if it's more cost effective for a small group to do a more "a la carte" wedding....

Have any brides here forgone the package and paid the extra fees to have a private group dinner/reception? I know at other Dreams it's $750 flat and then an additional per-head charge. If we do this, can we still have music, speeches, dancing etc?

Thanks so much in advance!

3 months tomorrow- and I am all of a sudden starting to freak out-- I feel like I have so many things to do!!

Do you girls know if our reception HAS to be 3 hours? What if we want to add an hour? Anyone doing that?

Anyone getting married in Oct- what time is your ceremony/reception?

Thanks :) Robyn

I was also planning on Dreams PV but decided on Dreams Riviera because it is just so beautiful. I am having a smaller wedding. 14 people and am getting the free package and then adding to it. The others had stuff I was not interested in. A neat idea for a reception is the wine cellar. It is private and there is no time limit and no additional cost. You can order from the french or italian menu I believe. The only catch is that you have to buy $60 worth of wine for each couple. I was a little disappointed in not having a beach reception but this is air conditioned and private. When are you getting married? Congrats and happy planning. Let me know if you need anything.

For us dinner reception starts at 6, DJ is 6 to 10, so technically our 3 hour reception is 6 to 9, Ana literarly wanted to say that they will start tare down at 9 pm, and wheel tables around our 'dance floor' jeez gotta love when logic goes completely out of the window! Anyhow, she agreed to not tare down till 10, but 10 pm sharp she will. 10 pm is their quite hour anyway. Whew okie - night!
So you are being charged $15 per guest? to have it until 10?

I was wondering the same things..I would definitely like another hour...but I know there is a curfew for music, I think it's 11:00.
