Our engagement story

We were vacationing at Secret Silversands in the Riviera Maya...just a little romantic getaway--which was almost cancelled due to the whole swine flu scare. We were having an idyllic vacation--the resort near empty, making friends with the few other couples that were there...just a really good trip. During the day we went horseback riding on the beach--we both like riding--and beach riding was a new experience for both of us. We also got to ride bareback into the ocean--which was scary and wonderful at the same time.

It was a breathtaking experience...we make our way back to the resort and get ready to freshen up after dinner--both of us in fantastic spirits after such an amazing day--we decide to go to down to the beach and talk and be romantic for a little while before dinner. We sit down on a towel at this beautiful rocky point and look at the water and reminisce about our relationship. For some reason I stand up...and he gets down on one knee and pulls out the ring and says "marry me."--his voice cracking. I start crying and say yes...he pulls out a bottle of champagne he had strategically waiting and we toast our engagement.

It got even better we make our way to the restaurant and all of the friends we made knew what had happened and were sending bottles of champagne and desserts to our table...we felt like celebrities. And when we got back to our room, there was yet another bottle of champagne, the bathtub filled, and rose petals everywhere.

It was the perfect day.
