But I won't have it altered until closer to the wedding date as FI and I are now doing P90X and I'd like to drop 10 lbs before the wedding.

I am kinda in the same boat and I want to lose weight before the wedding, but I need to drop 20lbs and tone up big time.

So when is everyone getting their dress altered? Right now my dress can't even zipper all the way up so I can't get it altered now, but I don't want to wait too long and risk not getting the dress back in time. I have to get a bustle so if anything the dress needs to zipper up so I can at least get that done and if I drop the 20lbs in a reasonable time I might have to get my dress taken in a bit. I was hoping to take it in August, but I heard some brides do it 4 months plus before the wedding.

Hat0112 - I actually heard you shouldn't alter you dress until about 6 weeks before the wedding. That you should do it as close to the wedding as possible to ensure that you are pretty much the size you are going to be at the time of your wedding. 6 weeks or so should also leave enough time that if any additional alterations are needed (i.e. didn't quite get it right the first time) you still have time for that. I am planning to take my dress to be altered at the beginning of September (wedding at the end of October). You should probably check with the salon where you are having your dress altered. If your dress has heavy beading or really intricate details maybe it will be longer.

Hmm…… I got my dress at David’s Bridal so maybe I will call and give them my style number and see what they think, even though I am not even sure where I am getting my dress altered at. I have heard bad things from brides getting their dresses altered at David’s Bridal. I have a tailor I go to but I don’t know if I want to risk getting my wedding dress altered there since if I go to DB and the mess up at least I will probably be able to get them to get me a new dress if needed.

My salon told me early August and if I got it within 5-7 weeks before the wedding it was considered a rush and cost extra.

Speaking of weight loss ... I'm eating pizza as I type this. Diet is not going so well sad.gif And on top of that my trainer is on vacation until July 6! I need to supplement with something else!

My dress just came in and I'm getting the first fitting next week. I have huge boobs so it had to be ordered for them, which makes the rest of it a blanket on me. I'll do another in early August then one in September just to make sure everything fits perfectly.

Talking about exercise and diet, I agree with everyone else about taking in less calories than you burn and building muscle being key. I am already pretty active - I distance run, play soccer and volleyball but I don't really watch what I eat. I don't eat terrible but I am a carb lover and not really a fan of protein. I am 10 lbs heavier than when I met FI 3 1/2 years ago (we both are actually). So to shape up, we are doing P90X, both the fitness and diet plan. I am loving the fitness plan (I don't normally do weights but when I do I tone up a lot so that goal is making me enjoy the pain). I hate the diet plan because its all high protein but I'm sticking with it.

OMG, my wedding is now less than 4 months away, I really need to get on top of my planning. Yikes.

Haha I have the same problem! Hate protein? What are your normal protein sources? I only eat two starches in the morning and then the rest of the day is protein. But since I run two marathons a year this is only my wedding plan, not my year-round diet, since I wouldn't be able to make progress with my times on low carb (already been there, don't that, it didn't work). I've been a little meathead lately so I've gotten pretty creative with my protein if you need any help. I eat my body weight in protein whenver I can.....

Thanks Runningbride. I'm super impressed that you do marathons. I do 1 or 2 halfs a year and a bunch of 10 ks. I would love to do a marathon but I just don't do the training for it. I get away with the halfs because I run 10 ks regularly so doing an occasional half is not so bad plus I usually run with a pace bunny to keep me pacing properly.

My normal day to day protein sources are seafood, chicken, peanut butter, nuts and protein shakes. I love seafood but am not that much of a meat eater. On the P90x, we are eating mainly turkey breast, chicken breast, salmon and other fish, protein shakes and bars, and occasional nuts.

I am impressed that you eat so much protein. I may have to ask you for some tips.

Btw, I love that you run in a runningskirt, me too.

Uhh... I know I should get my dress altered sooner rather than later, but as of right now it doesn't even zipper. I am so mad at myself for regain weight I already lost, then not losing it earlier so I wouldn't have to worry about my dress not fitting or me not being able to be the weight I wanted to be for the wedding. sad.gif

I think by mid-August whatever weight I am at the time I will need to suck it up and get my dress altered.

Runningbride- I would love to know some of your tips for eating more protein. I am horrible at eating enough of it. I am a carb lover and the only protein I get is from chicken, turkey, extra lean ground beef, beans, and yogurt. I like all seafood except fish. I try it all the time and make it different ways but I just don't like it.
