At What Age

does a flower girl become a Jr. Bridesmaid

 

My FI has an 8 year old daughter and I'm not sure if she would be considered a flower girl?

I read somewhere that 9 is an appropriate age so 8 is OK!! My nieces are both flower girls in my wedding, 3 and 7. I wasn't sure if the 7 year old would want to be a flower girl or a jr bridesmaid but she jumped at the chance to be a flower girl. I say go with whatever she wants to be as long as you're open to either options.

Well my bridal party is limited to MOH, BM, flower girl/jr bridesmaid and ring bearer. I'll ask her what she wants to be called on the program.

I always thought junior BMs were 10 and up, so yeah, ask her what she wants to be... I don't think it really matters, just what makes you and her happy!

Emily Post wedding etiquette book says 8 is the cutoff for a flower girl, so since she is on the cusp she can be whichever she likes. My FI's 10 year old niece did not want to be a flower girl (yeah she was too old but I was willing to bend the rules) so now I do not have one :-(

Yeah I agree with most posts...I've always heard that ages 9-10 is appropriate for Jr. Bridesmaids. I'm sure she'll be excited about it

I was a flower girl for my cousin when I was 8. I loved every second of it!

I was 8 and my sister was 7 when we were both junior bridesmaids in a wedding- I think 8 is okay!

I was 9 when I was a junior bridesmaid, but I think you should just go with whatever you want to do. It's your day!

My DH niece is 8 (soon to be 9) and we called her a jr bridesmaid - she felt very grown up.
