I have a question - how many brides out here are getting a separate dress for the Reception? I'm asking, because our budget is definitely of top concern - but the last 3 weddings I've been too, the brides have highly recommended changing. I'm just curious, as it has kind of been bugging me, whether I should start looking for another dress - then again, I want to get as much use out of my dress as possible.

It is this dress here, but I haven't tried it on in awhile (long story made short - it is at my Maid of Honor's house. I'm probably picking it up this weekend, actually), and seem to remember it is pretty heavy - it looks heavy, right?

Alright, sorry to drag on. Let me know your thoughts.

I would say it depends on your dress. If it's really heavy and you think you'll get hot, it might be a good idea to think about it.

I'm not buying a dress for the reception. I LOVE my dress and to me, wearing it for a day isn't long enough! :)

First of all- I love that dress! If it weren't for my budget and the July heat, that is one of the ones I wanted.

If you want, you could always get a less-expensive reception dress to change into after the dinner and first dances. That way once the party REALLY gets started you can get more comfortable, yet still have pics of the "important" stuff (first dance, cake cutting, etc) in your main dress.

I was thinking about getting a 2nd dress b/c it will be really hot in August, and I am worried about sweating too much. I wanted to get a long for the ceremony then short for the reception and dancing. I am also picking short bridesmaid dresses because it will be HOT! lol Depends what time of year you are having it though...the weather might not matter

I love love love my dress and couldn't imagine not being in it the whole time. It's tafetta and light so it's not heavy. Even if it were I would wear it, I love it!!! Plus I want to feel like the bride the whole day and night. Be comfortable and be you, that's all anyone can tell you.

Think about heat, PICTURES, comfort and cost...and there should be your answer =) Good Luck!
