I definitely don't think it's too early. For our May 2009 wedding, we sent out invitations July 2008 and had people RSVP by September 2008. (I think we had everyone's answers before New Years except for one couple.) Let's be honest, people know if they're going or not, so why wait on it? And actually, we didn't have all the last minute changing of plans. Worked well for us!

Ha! Kristy!, we did the same thing. I was reading all of these responses that people asked for RSVPs 2 or 3 months before the wedding and I started thinking I was crazy. My wedding is May 2010, I sent out Save the Dates July 2009, and asked for RSVPs by Sept 2009. I know people will be late, so this gives me ample time for the late stragglers to RSVP and for me to start planning with numbers in mind. Plus, one of my resorts is a series of 6 villas that we must fill, and the other is a small resort/hotel that may be completely booked with vacationers if my wedding guests don't reserve their rooms early.

Ok now I think I'm asking for too much... I gave people on our STD boarding passes the "check in for early booking" secret RSVP on our website option and got 45 people RSVP'd and that was a few months back and we get married next May! I'm sending out RSVP and booking reminders to everyone in September and asking for RSVP's and everyone booked by the end of the year.

Hmmm that may be asking too much, the hotel I'm getting married at books up pretty fast... :)

Our wedding is on 12/11/09 and we sent out STD back in January 2009. Wedding invitations were mailed out in May and we have set R.S.V.P. deadline for 09/18/09 to give us time to tie up the loose ends on the planning. Our friends and family are coming from all over the globe for our destination wedding, everyone should be able to make a decision twelve weeks before the event.

I agree with everyone - I don't think that's too early at all. Most guests will probably know whether or not they will be coming, especially when it comes to booking time off for vacation.

I haven't sent out invitations yet, but it's great to find out what everyone else is doing. Thanks everyone for sharing!
