Legal wedding before destination?

can you do that, get legaly married in Jamaica and then come home and do it here, and get our paper work? I figured if you have paperwork coming from jamaica saying you have been married that it would void the one that you want here in the states since the USA recognizes marriages in Jamaica!! I hope someone can answer, im so confused.. and i dont want to have to wait a year for my paper work to come in the mail from Jamaica.. if that really is how long it takes.. errrr

We're not going to have a legal day. Most (all I think) states accept a wedding license from Jamaica so you shouldn't have a problem changing your name or social security card/DL.

You can't legally get married in two places. You are right...because the US recognizes the Jamaica ceremony as legal, you can't "legally" get married again in the US to rush the paperwork. Only one day will be legal, and the other would be symbolic.
