Song choices...

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies

I will be having fireworks at my wedding and the DJ will be playing a song to go with the fireworks. I am having a hard time finding something. Any suggestions? I'm going from classical to heavy metal. I'm all over the map. smile105.giffryingpan.gif Help!!!

I think it'll depend on the mood you want to set. Is it meant to be romantic? Or is it to get the party started or wind down from the party? If it's meant to be romantic, I'd choose a sweet love song. To get the party started use something more upbeat (something most guests will know) or if you are using it to wind down the reception, I think a nice calming classical number would work. Hope this helps!

I would definitely say go with something instrumental, your guests will be wrapped up in watching the show. I know when I've went to 4th of July celebrations the music played has always been instrumental so not to take away or distract from the show.

Also consider how long the fireworks show is ~ that will also play a huge role in the song you choose. And is their sort of a build up to a finale in the fireworks? Something that reflects that in your song would be awesome! wink.gif

There is a piece of music that plays at the end of Return of the Jedi that would be perfect for the fireworks. It's instrumental, and is both upbeat and hopeful. I'm not thinking of the original piece of music from 1983, but the piece that Lucas had written for his revamp in the late nineties. It's called Victory Celebration and is written and composed by John Williams, and if my flash player was working properly I'd find a link to share, but hopefully it will be easy to find. And I swear, it's not too cheesy or over-the-top Star Wars (this coming from a die hard fan).

Another great choice would be any of the pieces from Holst's "The Planets". They set just the right mood for a fireworks performance.

Good luck with your choice!
