well, we haven't booked yet, but i get the feeling that we will be going through the same thing. my FI and i have already said that if no one shows up, we'll be perfectly fine with it! we're doing the group route, and people will have to make payments . . .. they will get the flight on their own. so if no one lets up know 90 days before our big day, we'll just cancel the rooms.

i know you want people there, but it's really all about you and your future husband!

I'm going through the same thing. I actually just sent out a mass email...and in it I stated "Please rsvp with your plans as soon as possible. We have realized how hard it is to plan a wedding when we don't know numbers". I followed it up by saying how we look forward to going on a great vacation with so many great friends and family. Just so it didn't sound TOO cranky! We did get a few responses from it...but, we're still waiting on most everyone. People either don't get it or just don't care. Some people have called our parents to rsvp...instead of us?? Does anyone else find this weird. I have never in my life responded to a bride and grooms parent's regarding our rsvp!

I'm SO relieved that I'm not the only one stressing about this... granted I've got more time than most of you but I've been staying on top of people with friendly reminders and keeping in touch with my TA.

 

I did get a group contract for 10 rooms, swim up suites because around Swine Flu time it was only a few dollars more than the standard room and the swim up suites are fantastic!

 

I'm using my sales tactics to push good pricing or grabbing the last few of the special rooms and it's working pretty well. People responding thanking me because they forgot so if you word things well or personally nudge it works. I tell people that they'll thank me for it in Mexico

Kidding of course... I'll PM you my email I sent out yesterday if you want. It's basically the idea of keeping them excited and interested in the trip and letting them know they have a chance to get a great deal and a special room.

From the email I was talking about that I sent Tuesday, I got 6 people booked and two more booking tomorrow! Success! I'm gonna keep it up

I too have had issues getting people that say they are coming for sure to book. Unfortunately, I locked in the rate for my hotel in January before the whole swine flu mess, so my guests are looking for cheaper options elsewhere and finding it!

 

It's really put my sales and marketing skills to the test to convince them to stay with us instead. So far it seems to be working because we've almost booked our whole block. But I have had to keep reminding people to go ahead and book and send them alerts on cheap airfare.

 

However, I've definitely only received back about half of the RSVPs either yay or nay. It's not that hard. It has a stamp on there already! But it seems like this is standard for weddings both DW and local.
