Hmm....what about that wacky tack stuff? I know my dorms never allowed push pins or anything, so we used that to stick all of our pictures and stuff up on the wall. Also, big tupperware bins to use under your bed are a great idea, because closet space is soo so limited. Shoe racks are a good idea if she's a clothes horse as well. You might consider picking up some fun indoor safe lights (we ALL had these hanging in our dorm rooms, they're in no way necessary, but fun nonetheless) and a piggy bank of some sort....that sounds so tacky, but quarters are like gold in dorm life, and they end up all over your room if you're not careful. Other than that, if you can find a cheap area rug, it will be much appreciated, because most dormshave those nasty linoleum tile and not carpet! Hope this helps!

here's what we did for my cousins:

 

Toilet seat covers because crabs jump high

Halls drops for when your throat gets dry.

 

Travel toothbrush for nights spent "away"

Aleve for your head the very next day.

 

Rolaids for heartburn and upset belly

Lysol for when your rooms gets smelly

 

Some water and Gatorade with electrolytes

And Pledge to clean up after drunken nights.

 

Breath mints and condoms are a college must

You know how to use them both, we trust

 

A deck of cards for playing games with drinks

Polish remover to get rid of the hot pink.

 

Chocolate and Pringles are yummy to munch

Baby wipes for your butt after cafeteria lunch.

 

You never know when you'll need some Krazy Glue

Antibacterial lotion after touching dorm room goo

 

Some cute little socks to keep your tootsies warm

Crayons and a coloring book so you stay busy in your dorm.

 

Pretty pens to leave your number with a cute boy

Now you are ready and prepared and we hope you enjoy.

all this thread did was make me depressed and make me want to go back to college! I HEART COLLEGE.

 

All the things I was going to say are things that have already been mentioned. The clothes hamper, shower staples and laundry staples are all necessities!!

One of the best things i had was a white board calendar, helped keep everything organzied (school, parties, visits home)...it was one month at a time. and then you could wipe it off and use it again next month. So white board markers and a dry brush also useful.
