Heels on the beach...

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be the oddball here! I wore heels on the beach. We had our ceremony in a gazebo but to get to the gazebo I had to walk down the beach. The sand was hard enough that I didn't sink in. We also had our reception on the beach...I wore my heels for the first dance and father daughter dance but then changed into flip flops afterwards. Maybe check with other girls who have gotten married at your resort to see how hard the sand is there?

This is a major issue for me!!! I'm trying to get the resort to put down boards under a runner. Not sure if its going to work out. I need to get some wedges as a back up, but my dress needs a skinny heel! I will end up in flip flops later, I'm sure, but I definitely want to wear some cute heels. I bought some sea grass mats that I could use as a runner. No clue what to do about the firmness of the sand. My fiance' suggested we wet the sand so it will be more packed in. I'm just not sure how this will be. I would love to hear solutions too! :)

I don't know if any of you have seen these before:

The Solemates

You place the plastic doo-dad on your heel. It's made primarily for grass, but it may work on hard sand. My wedding will be on grass, so I'm probably going to get one for myself and my bridesmaids.

FYI, VioletVol, wet sad = mud. :) I don't think you'd want your dress dragging in it!

I'd like to hear more feedback from brides who wore heels during their beach ceremony. Like others, I'm only 5'1" (my dad is 6'2" and fiance is 5'8" - so I need a couple extra inches!) My ceremony and reception are both taking place on the beach. I'm thinking about wearing 3.5 inch heels during the ceremony (I bought the solemates..although I don't think they'll really help) and then change into 3.5 inch flip flops for the reception.

Please let me know if you have any input!

Like you I am much shorter then my Fi and my dad.  I considered wearing heels, but after being in a wedding in Mexico last year on the beach and having to wear heels I decided against it.  It was really difficult to walk in heels in the sand and I felt like I was walking through quik sand.  I think if you need the height wedges for the beach is better, they you can wear your heels for the reception.
