Where are you getting married? Are you doing this through a resort?

I believe there are cheaper meal options. I thought the most expensive one was around $74 per person. But most people are doing the $58 pp meal. That includes dinner, drinks, the ceremony, setups, a cocktail reception etc. I think even with the free wedding package 10 people are included so you are just paying the $58 pp for the guests above 10.

I think I understand where the bride is coming from. When booking at an AI, it can be difficult to justify paying for a dinner when the meals are already included in the AI pricing. I understand that you are paying for them to set up a private area, etc; and it's also typically cheaper than a standard reception since you typically have fewer guests at a DW -- but an additional $50 - $85 pp can still add up.

In my case, Beaches is $75 pp for a 3 hour dinner/reception, and I would like to have that time not so much for the dinner, but I want to have music and be able to do our first dance, etc. However it's our parents (on both sides) that are telling me it's silly to pay for a private dinner when it's an AI resort. They're trying to convince me to just wait for the AHR. So I'm still torn on what do do.

I think most guests expect some type of reception/dinner - but if all the guests are staying at the resort, maybe you could make a group dinner reservation in one of the restaurants instead?

We were torn at the beginning with this too...why pay extra for food and drinks when it's an AI?? But the way we see it we're paying for the service, set-up, and privacy more so than the food and drinks which is why it is so much cheaper than traditional reception. Plus our guests all came from so far we wanted to really take care of them even if that meant a little more out of our pocket.

It seems there should be other options though instead of just that one...it's a little steep.

Hi Nicole!

Wow! $85pp is alot for an all-inclusive from what I've come across in the short time I've been researching. I, honestly, think you can do whatever you want msnwink.gif Nothing about destination weddings is traditional, so you basically get to choose what types of things you do or don't include. I doubt people will think you are cheap just bc you didn't spring for a dinner reception. Especially since they are probably mostly family members and close friends, anyway. I'm sure if they knew how much it would cost you, they would not want you spending that much since they're already paying for the all-inclusive plan themselves. I think hockeymom had a great idea about the restaurant reservation for your group! I totally get that what you're paying for is the privacy & set-up, though, so you just have to figure out what is best for you & fiance: being able to have all the people you want at your wedding or having some of the people you want and a private reception.

Good luck w/making a decision!!
