Reception or not???

I am planning our wedding in Mexico and I recently found out that the meal options are around $85/person. I am planning on having around 50+ ppl attending. At that price the wedding budget is continuing to rise and get out of control. To avoid a supper, I am thinking of having a sunset wedding and than a cocktail party on the beach. Can anyone help me think of some more economical optionshuh.gif or, am I going to look cheap by not having a supperhuh.gif

Please help me out!!!!!

Congratulations and welcome! In regards to your question, I also agree that all of your guests will probably be expecting some type of reception dinner. Are you pretty set on Dreams? It is a bit pricey to pay that much extra for dinners when it's already an AI resort.

I'm booked at Dreams LR, and we are going with the free wedding package and then upgrading for a private reception. I know prices at each of the Dreams is different (which I found out the hard way, after basing all of my pricing on Dreams PC and then found out that Dreams LR is more $$) but our total cost for approx 40 people will only be about $2000-2500, which includes a full meal and cocktail reception beforehand.

Good luck with your planning!

Why don't you look into having a reception at a restaurant that is off-site? You can have the wedding on the beach at Dreams and then hire vans or buses to take everyone to your desired reception site. You can probably find somewhere that will stay way under $85 pp. Plus you may end up with more authentic food, and people may enjoy the opportunity to get off the resort for a little while, since they will probably eat most of their other meals there. Just a thought!

Felicidades and welcome to the forum!! Does that price include drink? I know, in Vallarta, dinners run about $43 on up pp but that doesn't include beverages (although drinks per hour, depending on the caterer run around $9 pp an hour .... which, combined, is still at $52 pp!!)....

Anyway, I think if the cocktail includes some good food and entertainment, it might be just fine.
