I also had to be very careful of the resort rates so that guests would be able to attend. I narrowed my search down to Riu Playacar, Sandos Playacar, and Barcelo Maya Beach. Riu and Barcelo are in compounds that have nicer hotels in them, but we are looking at the more budget friendly ones. They are older and have less options for food, but I would rather have everyone able to attend. I did a lot of looking on tripadvisor.com to find budget resorts that had good reviews. Also, I ruled out a few that had less than stellar reviews of how good the beach was. Good luck with the planning and welcome to the forum.
