December Weddings - Sunsets...

Hi there,

 

I'm getting married in Playa Del Carmen on Dec 2, 2009 and I think I have picked out my times now. 2:00 for the wedding and 5:00 for the reception on the beach.

 

For the reception, I'm hoping that timing wise we will get at about 45 minutes of light...be it sunset light... does anyone know when the sun usually sets at that time and if it's around 5... does it happen really quick or will I be ok starting at 5 and having a bit of light before it gets all dark?

I guess it depends where you are getting married. I know the sun sets around 6-630pm in Huatulco in December (im getting married dec 29th). Just do a google search and you will find a link that will tell you the different areas sunset times!

We were in Playa del Carmen from 12/1/2008 - 12/8/2008. I remember the sun started going down around 5 p.m. You should have enough light for a 45-minute beach reception.

i didn't realize in December the sun goes down so quickly!

this really cements the fact i guess that I should have the reception inside.

We're getting married in Cozumel, which is the island right off of Playa Del Carmen... we're doing a sunset cruise after our wedding, and the resort guy who runs the cruises said that in December the sun sets about 6:30-6:45.... so you should have plenty of time in the light, and then watching the colors as it starts to set but it shouldn't completely go down until about 6:30.
