Groom's Attire: Should I tell him what my dress looks like?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm hoping for some advice on my Fiance's wedding day attire. Originally I thought I would get a simple dress, probably short and so my fiance was just going to wear nice shorts and a nice shirt. But when I went shopping for my dress, I bought a more formal style dress that is long and elegant. Now I don't know what my guy should wear? I don't want him to look out place, but I also want him to be comfy! Plus he's a large teddy bear, so his size limits some of his options.

And I don't know how to talk to him about it without giving away too many details about my dress!! Have any of you told your partner the style of your dress or is it top secret?

Thanks for the help!!!!

I dont think you need to tell him what your dress looks like at all! I would just say you got a wedding dress and you think it would look best if he wore pants instead of shorts. If he starts asking questions just say you want to match and since he doenst know what your dress looks like, he should just trust you.

I think you can tell him the style of the dress without giving too much away, and most importantly, without ruining the suprise! For example, just telling him that you got a longer, more formal dress than you thought you would be getting would probably be enough information so that you guys could talk about his outfit, and he still would have no idea what your dress looks like. Most wedding dresses, after all, are long and formal! wink.gif

My fiance knows that I have a ballgown silhouette, that it is a big/heavy dress, and that it is strapless. He's gone from there with his outfit and with the groomsmen's attire.

Good luck! :)

My FI kind of knows what it looks like but has not see any real pics of it or even me in any sort of wedding dress. If you think its ok to share some details do it if not just make him the suggestion of wearing something more formal :) Good luck!
