Non-Floral Centerpiece Ideas

OK, I like the palm idea, however I would NOT do the water in blue like that. That is the part I don't like and what makes it blend into the surroundings too much. Maybe a red would look better or just clear? And then what if you took ribbon and made a criss cross pattern up the vase? Just to add a punch of color?

Thanks for all of the great ideas! If I end up using the palms, I will probably use hot pink water and put votives around them.
