Is anyone getting married/got married at Our Lady Guadalupe Church

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls!! For those of those who are intersted Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe is completely gorgeous. FI and I went down this past January for a site visit. We were between Riviera Maya and Puerto Vallarta. While we were down there we reserved our date at this church for 11/13/2010. We decided to have our wedding in Riviera Maya a few months ago and somehow forgot to cancel our date with Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe. Anyhow - we called them last week so the date is now open for anyone who was looking to get married there on that date. The church is just breathtaking and perfect. You are all going to have an amazing ceremony!

Who have you been talking to? Our date was locked due to another wedding but we really wanted to get married at the Xcaret chapel so we shifted everything one day. We really are so in love with the chapel so we shifted a few things around.. The person I talked to is an event manager there her name is Aura. Let me know if you want her contact info.

I am a little worried that my expierence has been too easy and when I call back I am in for a surprise.  My mom called for me since she speaks spanish much better than I do.  The woman she spoke with in the church put our date on hold and just wants me to call back with the information from my priest and where I will be taking the pre-cana classes at.  My priest seems to be familiar with this process and already filled out all of our paperwork in spanish for the church in PV and is getting the OK from the archdioses here for us to be married in Mexico.

My concern is going to be that we only speak English, but half my family speaks only english and half speaks only spanish.

Has anyone gotten married in the church who was not Catholic.  I am Catholic but my FI is Lutheran I am hoping this does not cause a problem.

I would check with your priest and call the church in Mexico to make sure this is not a problem. As far as I know you both have to be Catholic and have gone through all your sacraments in order to have a Catholic ceremony.

Thanks Mrs. M.  It is fine with my parish and priest and there is just a form that I had to sign stating that I intend to remain Catholic and raise my children Catholic, he is also getting the OK from the Archdiocese .  My priest is going to contact them to find out if the church and Archdiocese in Mexico will also OK it.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this since I know the Catholic Churches in Mexico are stricter.

Hey everyone,

My fiancé and I would like to get married in this church as I grew up travelling to Vallarta and attending mass here.

The glitch is while I am catholic my fiancé is Anglican. From my research , I believe we need permission from our priest here which we can arrange . Can anyone else speak to this type of situation? Or your experiences in being married here?

Thanks!

Chelsea
