Looking for Cancun resort suggestions

I'm Tammy from Iowa and I'm looking to plan a destination wedding in Cancun for Fall 2010. I'm using this site for recommendations to all inclusive resorts in Cancun that offer a fun but romantic atmosphere that allows children (for my neices and nephews). My fiance and I might even visit Cancun beforehand to check out some places. We visited Cabo and loved it but would like a resort in Cancun with a swimmable beach. Looking forward to getting some good wedding ideas!

Well, I'm new to the whole "wedding planning thing", but I've been to Cancun about 24 times, so I feel I can answer lol!

You should try either Riu Palace Las Americas or Riu Cancun because, in all honesty, those are the only AI's I can think of that are on the "calm side" of the water: Cancun is shaped like a "7" and those resorts on the top of the 7 have calm waters, because the waves are blocked from Isla Mujeres a little across the way. So, I would start your search there popcorn.gif

I stayed at the Sun Palace (part of the Palace resorts and the only one that's couples only as far as I know) and we were very happy. It was my first time in Cancun so I don't know what other places offer but the pools and beach were great, they had "make your own pizzas" poolside and it was all-inclusive (complete with mini bar in the room). You could also go to other Palace resorts and eat at their restaurants as well as part of the all-inclusive if you want a change but we only ventured out to the Moon Palace by accident once on our way back from Tulum and the dinner was great! I highly recommend both Moon Palace (kind of far from the strip of hotels is the only drawback) and Sun Palace. Easy to get around as a cheap local bus went by every 5 min to take you shopping or more restaurants, bars, etc.

Sincerely,

Nora

We're having our wedding at Moon Palace next June and like you I needed a resort that was kid friendly. Moon Palace is away from the strip and that was a pro for us. The wedding sales coordinator told me that of all the Palace resorts in Cancun, Moon was the most family oriented and was away from the scene on the strip. When it comes down to it, I think it's about preference. There is a beach that you can swim at but because of its location seaweed tends to creep up. From what I'm told, it's cleaned daily and that many tend to stay by the pools anyways.

I hope that helps! Good luck to you =)
