Gran Caribe Real Cancun Brides Post Here...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

When sending the letter from the priest - it was directly to the church in Mexico, correct?

It wasn't to be sent to the WC in Michigan?

This whole process is so utterly confusing, and seems to change every time i'm finally able to speak to someone! Our WC confirmed our "rooftop terrace" reception location months ago, and i received an email in very early January - asking us to pick a location for our private reception. I emailed back frantically since i was out of the country on vacation with EXTREMELY limited access to email - i still have not heard back from anyone.

Our wedding date is April 27th - and it seems like we have NOTHING planned as of yet.

What kind of wedding is everyone having? Son and bride are having the Classic. This comes with a 1.5 hour semi-reception at a restaurant. They are also doing the champagne toast and cake with all the guests (about 25). B&G are having a big AHR back home with all the traditional wedding stuff, but still would like to do a couple of the traditions at the beach. Bride is concerned when/if she would get the chance to do a couple dances.

Will they be able to dance a little immediately following the ceremony & do all the toasts then go to dinner? Or would that be awkward?

I am not even sure what the resort allows in timing of all the events since it appears they run a pretty tight schedule.

Also does anyone know which is the best restaurant to choose for the semi-private reception?

Last question - beach vs gazebo? Pros and cons? They are not catholic so the chapel is out- but is sure looks beautiful!

Unfortunately B&G will not be able to do a site visit prior to wedding. No way between school and work.

I sent it directly to the Parish in Mexico (Lupita Ramos) and cc'd the wedding coordinator. I have been dealing with the wedding coordinators in Mexico which has not been an easy process but I can only imagine that going through a third party (i.e. Michigan coordinator) must be even worse. Why don''t you go directly through the WC in the resort in mexico?

We had our priest give us our letter and we scanned it and emailed it to the church. The church wrote back and said they got it but we still need to bring the original with us.

Hello All,

I am a newbie and this is my 1st post, so excuse me if I am bringing up things that have already been discussed. I actually joined this site because it is one of the only places that I can find brides who have been or are going to be married @ Gran Caribe. I am in the beginning stages of planning (although this part has been going on for almost 2 mo now). I NEED TO PICK A VENUE BEFORE I GO CRAZY!!

I have been going back and forth about Gran Caribe and many of you have expressed disgust over the lack of help from your WCs, so it's making me weary. Frankly, this is the only place that I can get what I've envisioned for the price so I guess I really want to make this work. However, are there any brides on here who have already been married @ Gran Caribe that can ease my fears? Does it all work out perfectly in the end?

I am willing to go through the stress of the planning period (that's what we all expect anyway, right). But I just want to make sure that the stress is all worth it in the end. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Hi there, my daughter got married there in April and it was awesome, I had made all the arrangements by e mail and was a bit leary if it would turn out ok but they are absolutely awesome there, it was her fairytale wedding, they got married on the beach had a reception downstairs in one of the rooms and had a full course meal, it was reallt good, once you get there they discuss everything with you and you can make sure everything is what you want, there wedding cake was beautiful along with the flowers, actually the flowers were unbelievable... the pictures were taken in the room before the ceremony during the ceremony and then about a half an hour after the ceremony on the beach, the reception was supposed to be up on the roof but due to wind they moved us downstaris and it was good. funver photographer was who we hired and they did a awesome job, the video was ready the next morning...I think all the stress will be soooo worth it....congrats to you and I hope its the day you have always imagined...

I thought I'd already posted this question here but I didn't! Does anyone know where the rooftop and villa terraces are located at the Gran Caribe? I'm doing my wedding on the Royal side but the terraces look the prettiest for the cocktail hour! I"m wondering if they're close to the Royal side or not? Thanks!

Hey Everyone,

I am planning to have my wedding at the oceanfront chapel in Feb 2010. I just decided on this yesterday! Anyway, I'm trying to figure out all the requirements for the catholic ceremony. I am a confirmed catholic, but my fiance is not even baptised. Does anyone know the ruling on this? I called my parish, and they said as long as he take the pre-cana class, he is all set, but I'm not sure how it works with the parish in Mexico. Anyone know??

Saza,

My fiance and I are in the same predicament. I am catholic and he is not baptized. We are not going to advertise that he isn't baptized, instead simply a Christian. I know some Churches just need to verify that he hasn't been previously married.

This is what our wedding planner sent us for the catholic guidelines:

Both you and your future husband are to go to your local parish to take the pre marital classes and your priest will tell you what paper work is required. Your priest must ask our Church permission for you to get married in our Chapel. Our Chapel relies on the main Church in the hotel zone called Cristo Resucitado.

Once your priest gives you the letter you are then to scan it and send it to me to by e mail and I will send it to our Church. This letter is called carta traslado & without you will not be able to get married.

Hope this helps!
