What if no one dances?

Recommended Posts

I had this worry. We had a couple of things that worked in our favor.

1) Get someone to dance something completely off the wall to break the ice.His parent's started out the dancing by breakdancing to "Baby's Got Back" (yes, they are 70). It was an absolute riot, and no one was afraid to get on the dance floor after that.

2) We hired salsa dancers to come in and give a lesson about two hours after the party started, just to give the dancing another burst of energy. It worked, and the dancing lasted for another 2 hours.

3) As stated here, you and the groom have to take the lead. The DH made it a point to dance with each of the guests. No one can say no to the bride and groom.

Have fun! You're party will be great.

Nobody danced at our wedding and I was really surprised! I thought my MOH would for sure get out there. I didn't end up caring too much though. I got to have my first dance on the beach with my new hubby and that was good enough for me. Don't stress too much - just concentrate on what a wonderful day it will be with your new hubby and friends and family!! Best of luck :)

I totally had this fear!!!! But in the end everyone danced!! We had like 33 guests.

I think the key is what Kate mentioned that YOU need to be out there dancing! Also pic songs that you love and some that go across all genres. When we played some Beatles and more "oldie" type music EVERYONE was on the dance floor! We had Lady Gaga "just dance" to get the party started and it really worked

I was worried about the same thing as we had people ranging in age from 24-62. I knew that most of the guests would probably not be dancing so instead of stressing myself out we only did the traditional dances. After that we didn't have the music because we would have incurred a double charge (long story) So basically we just did a later dinner and people talked at their tables, we walked around (oh yeah, we only about 20 guests total), had cake and then people went to bed. I was planning on people going out for drinks after but we were all exhausted so it turned out OK. Like the other brides say...just have fun and do whatever you want to do! :)

I COMPLETELY agree with this! Icebreaker is necessary to get everyone comfortable-- If you dance, they will dance. :)

Great idea! I was going to send an email to people, but better to hit the masses with the info on the wedding website. Will do this for sure.
